Jogging
I won't say that I'm a running fanatic, but about five years ago, for a few months, it really captivated me. It was during the COVID-19 outbreak — there was plenty of free time, and I found something to occupy myself. I watched instructional videos on YouTube about running technique and other nuances, ran almost every day, and at one point, started covering more than 100 kilometers per week. My record for a single run was 30 kilometers. Of course, I had been running a lot before that, as I had been professionally involved in judo for a long time, but not as frequently and without delving into the details.
Near my house, there is a small forest plantation that resembles a park. However, there are hardly any people there — just the occasional dog walkers with their pets or drug users. I ran there all spring and summer, but then the quarantine measures eased, and I had to return to work. I didn't give up running; I just reduced the intensity.
In Kazakhstan, the weather is just starting to warm up, and I think this year I will be able to dedicate an adequate amount of time to running. I'm not a running fanatic, but I like it because with its help, you can maintain a good shape without using additional exercises.
Today, I ran 6 kilometers on a familiar route — not in the forest plantation, but on the sidewalk nearby. Unfortunately, I forgot to start the workout on my phone, so there won't be any screenshots as proof — you'll have to take my word for it.
All the photos were taken today on my phone.
I need to follow your lead and go running more often - it's something that is enjoyable for some reason.
I had got back into the rhythm of running most days (4 or 5 times per week) but since both the little gorillas got ill, I haven't been able to get back into it. And today, I decided to play football in the park and it now feels like I've knackered my knees so I guess that's a good excuse to do nothing tomorrow 😆
Take care of your knees, you'll need them later. You'll have plenty of time to run :-)
I envy you. Our running tracks near our lake are so full that it becomes a game of dodging other people who should probably have a different path that they walk on.
I did like your comment about the place being filled with drug users although that is quite unfortunate.
Your 30k that you did... Did you do this without ever slowing to a walk? If so, I find that really impressive.
Yeah, I switched to walking, but I was still running very slowly
that's the only way I can do distance running, about 8 minute kms
It looks like a very comfortable runway. You look a bit grim in the photo. But I'm sure that's deceptive ;-)))
I inherited this face from some stern ancestor, and many people meeting me for the first time think I'm a very serious person 😁
haha, what a great response!
