Fortitude and forfeit

in #thoughts6 years ago

Thinking a little about difficulty I realise that no matter how much I work, my life is one of relative ease in comparison to some in this world but, experience is relative. It is impossible to walk in another's shoes, impossible to carry their emotional burdens. In this way, we are islands.

Many of us have been sold a lie in this life as we have been told that we should be happy which is inevitably a position that will always fail. It is akin to jumping from the ground and not expecting to land again. What goes up, is the expression that comes to mind.

The quest for improvement to life can be a noble I've but there is no guarantee that they will ever arrive or, we will live to see them. An interesting thing I noticed a while ago is that when I imagine the future, I myself am not in it, I watch it like a movie, a passenger disconnected.

This is perhaps a problem when it comes to building for future generations or, repairing for them. Since we are unlikely to see the end of the project, why bother, why rush? It is likely how we ended up here on the first place; "I won't live in filth do the is no cost to polluting."

I was taking to a friend the other day about my life in general and it seems that it is down to duty and responsibility. In some way, I am already the passenger as at least currently actions are directed by circumstances and even while In actively make choices, they are not for me directly, they are for others for which I must provide.

I wonder how much I could endure of push cage to shove, how crushing could life be before my resilience waned and I threw in the towel. Fortitude is the ability to brace oneself and carry on despite challenge and ignore the probability of failure. To withstand.

Sometimes I consider how close I have come to being the knee to life and question if I was close at all. Perhaps my mind considering giving in was part of the process required to stand my ground or, to get back up.

Maybe, no matter how difficult or painful life is, the goal is developing the tools necessary to drive on. Maybe this is the adaption necessary for our own evolution, our personal awakening. Suffer enough until we find a better way, or accept that this is the only way.

Life provides what it does, how we choose to live with it is up to us.

let me pick your brains, sir...(there's some steem in it, for you , if I'm successful in this project..)
Time is kinda tight - So no pressure.. lol

I don't actually think this will cause you too much headache.

If you were to list the top 5 things that steem, the blochchain (not stemeeit) brought to people, what would they be?

Dapps spring to mind..

....basically all the stuff you're clear about in your head, of which I'm totally fuzzy about..

Cheers for any help.

Dapps cover a whole range of things as the steem system can flex in many ways.

I would add revenue streams and payment gateways in developing countries, the ability to earn anonymously, censorship and immutability resistance, ability to earn on skills no matter colour or creed, abiltity to earn whle developing skills, a comparatively soft learning curve into crypto/ new economy/ economic understanding/ technology.

There are many, just on my way to work though.

👍, ok gives me something to work with.. cheers

ability to earn on skills no matter colour or creed....

that one's up for severe dispute! lolol

Anonymity is possible here and in my opinion, a higher percentage of people are less caring about colour or background anyway.

ability to earn on skills no matter colour or creed....

Color, I would agree with you... but creed...???
Noun 1.
creed - any system of principles or beliefs

It can be very hard , no let's say impossible - to earn on here, if you try express your principles or beliefs and someone 'bigger' than you, disagrees with your point of view.

Depends how you express them, just like anywhere.

So you have to express your words in accordance with another's approval, to earn here?

So you agree then.
I knew it would happen one day! lol
I'm glad we cleared that up.

Living by another persons leave , just for money, is so....so...._ small_ though, isn't it?....
..... ewwwwww....

Not at all. You can also have stake. This is a POS system that allows buy-in for anyone. There are numerous ways to earn without posting.

Oh, I would also add the ability to give directly to people. Over the last two years I have probably given between 1-2 thousand Steem/ SBD to various people that have helped them out in a number of ways. Without Steem, I wouldn't know them let alone have the ability to send it to them without banks getting involved.

As long as your objective conditions aren't abusive (like working in mainstream educaction) in which case you should get out (and try and bring the system down), then suffering/ struggle is just a perfecrtly ordinary part of life... which should be embraced... it's yours and nobody elses after all!

Real objective hardship is different... famine/ insecurity/ violence etc.

I have this mental habit of seeing perpetually happy people as like children (actually more like the Eloi in HG Wells' Time Machine) - they've yet to realise the hardships of life and the meantime I tolerate them.

We have created a generation or three of reducing emotional hardships through a process of separation. Engineered happiness through avoidance.

It is something that interests me...the discnnect... millions of people thinking they can make money out of 'doing what they love'.

Actually there's a lot of people spreading that nonsense on steem.

A few people can (especially if wife/ hubby earn $60K)... 99% can't.

Making money and making enough to live off is different. I feel that many people don't know what they love, only what they think they want. If they found what they were passionate about, it would likely tear then apart - unprepared for the work.

'life is suffering, get used to it...' A Peterson one liner, that changed the perspective of millions!

It is always about going forward and there comes a point thatbit shift from being from oneself to others like family. We can only be grateful to use what we have for these efforts and make the best of it!

The goal might be to reduce suffering. It doesn't necessarily say, 'for the self'

I hope we'll find more power of changing things we don't like.
