SLC22-W5/ GENDER VIOLENCE
Hello Teaching Team |
---|
Hello My Steemain Friends ,
How are you. I hope you people of steemian are good and enjoy your life . Well I am well. May God bless you all. Today I am writing about an interesting Steemit Engagement Challenge S22 - W5: which is all time my favourite topic GENDER VIOLENCE this amazing challenge organised by @anasuleidy . So, in this post I am going to share my point of view about this topic.
Part 1
Please tell us if there is a special law in your country to protect women's rights and what is your opinion regarding this law |
---|
The government has taken many steps for the safety of women in our country and many laws have been made by our government for the safety of women. Special laws have been made by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the safety of women and laws have been made for the safety of women under them such as saving women in domestic life, saving women under the dowry act, law against indecency with women and law against sexual harassment of women, AVN Bal Vivah etc.
All the laws have been made by the government for the safety of women and the government follows all these laws with great discipline and strength.
Please state whether you consider this law to be effective and whether it does not violate the principle of equality before the law enjoyed by both men and women |
---|
All these types of laws made by the government follow the rights of women and protect them from all types of incidents and provide security to women and I believe that all these laws are very effective and always work in the interest of women, due to which women are always provided security. And these laws always work for the benefit of women. These laws are very strict and these laws are followed and heard with great power. This law protects the rights of women and always works for the benefit of women.
This law does not violate any kind of principles for the protection of women and always provides security to women. Under this law, even men are not made a medium of excessive pressure and this law is always kept short, keeping in view the depths of everyone's rights. To work in the interest of all, the government has been giving instructions from time to time to deal with all these laws with power and the life of women has become comfortable.
Part 2
From the list of crimes mentioned in class, say which ones you consider may be crimes of gender violence and which ones may be common crimes committed against a woman or women |
---|
There are some types of violence which are commonly applied to both sexes.
Psychological violence, harassment or intimidation, physical violence, workplace violence, property and economic violence, media violence, institutional violence.
These types of crimes can be put in the category of common crimes committed against women. They are as follows:
Sexual slavery, sexual harassment, sexual violence, Trafficking of women, girls and adolescents, Trafficking of girls and adolescent women.
Have you or someone close to you been a victim of gender violence. What was the situation? Was the victim able to assert her rights? Do you think the law favored the victim? |
---|
Gender violence is a gender based violence. This violence is one of the incidents done by any person of his gender or by any other gender. Incidents like rape or physical torture are also a part of gender violence. As per my knowledge, my relative was also given similar physical torture. After her marriage, her in-laws kept harassing her a lot. She was taunted from time to time for household chores and sometimes, due to extreme confusion, she was also beaten up.
But seeing all the problems, the woman did not mention this to anyone keeping in mind the happiness of both the families, that is, her maternal side and her in-laws' side, and both the families did not even get a hint of this and she lived her life happily. She did not take any kind of legal help and played her hundred percent part in keeping not only two but also the families happy.
Part 3
Please state whether we are dealing with a femicide or a homicide committed against a woman. Explain your answer. |
---|
Case 1
A woman is shot by a thief for not giving her belongings and for taking action against the thief. This murder does not come under the category of violence against women or any kind of harassment of women. This type of violence will not be called gender violence. It will be generally applicable to both sexes.
If this act was done by a man, then the thief would have shot the man as well. Because he did not care about the woman or the man, he was only concerned about the stolen goods. For this type of violence, we can take action for justice in the court only in the case of robbery, forceful snatching.
In this type of case, two sections will be applied on the criminal, one for robbery and the other for murder. The punishment for the thief will be decided on the basis of these sections.
Case 2
Please state whether this is a crime of gender violence or a common crime committed against a woman. Explain your answer. |
---|
Exactly this type of case comes under women harassment cases. In this, the husband of the woman insults her, snatches her rights and tortures her mentally and physically. Even the husband does not have the right to take away the freedom of any woman.
It is often seen that women have to become victims of domestic violence. Crimes like insulting and humiliating by the husband in front of everyone are common. Due to which both the self-confidence and emotional aspects of women are deeply affected. This type of violence comes under domestic violence, for which very strict rules have been made by the government. But the number of such crimes registered by any woman is still very low.
I want to invite my friends to take part in this contest: , @sduttaskitchen , @chant , @eliany , @goodybest"
Thankyou 🙏
Gender violence is a complex topic and needs to be addressed with caution because I often say that gender activists have over the years over-empowered women and forgot that men also faced violence from women. I know of men who are suffering and dying in silence because they are afraid people will laugh at them that a woman is violent towards them and he is not doing anything. Imagine at a funeral men pretend to be strong and not cry because society will name-calling them for being “weak” as if they are women. Everybody has emotional feelings and can express them freely without name-calling. In a nutshell, gender violence is a double-edged sword and should be addressed by both sexes and not focused on women. It should be addressed in an inclusive way. Thank you for the invite and I wish you good luck with the challenge.

@aviral123, thank you for your invitation!
The topic you've raised is indeed a significant issue affecting people globally, but I believe there’s a critical aspect that deserves more attention: gender diversity. While we often discuss violence against women, we must also acknowledge the challenges faced by the LGBT community. They endure immense hardships in society, often marginalized and treated as if they’re from another world.
I encourage you to read about Manabi Bandopadhyay, the principal of Krishnanagar Women's College. Formerly known as Somenath, she was born male and has fought tirelessly to claim her identity as Manabi Bandopadhyay. Her journey is an inspiring testament to resilience.
When we address violence, we have a responsibility to explore all dimensions of the issue. There’s much more to consider, and I appreciate how you highlighted and elaborated on this important subject. Best of luck moving forward!
