The forum is great and looks like will be a massive hit amoung the Splinterland players.

I just noticed I couldn't get a youtube video embeded so I would like to see a fix for that. I would also like to see more info for our profile such as post count/rep/option to view a list of our own topics/comments ect.

Standard forum stuff like see replies to me and view threads that I've posted in or subscribed to would be good.

I'm interested in the new forum.
I write here one by one every day.

Topic: What Would You Like To Use Dark Energy Crystals For?

The Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) have become a thriving economy over night. We find buy and sell walls on the Steem-Engine exchange, all day, every day. Orbs, Skins, Potions and upvote-bot - there is much to sink our DEC into.

However, I was wondering what other ideas the Splinterlands community has, to spend their hard earned DEC for. What would make sense? What would be fun and/or good for the economy? Some people have talked about staking DEC, but I wonder what for.

Please share your thoughts and ideas about the Dark Energy Crystals and how we can make them even more interesting.

I think for getting sp delegations. You can grind for DEC, then stake the DEC to get more SP to get even more battles in to get more DEC! It'll be beautiful.

Maybe we can buy cards for DEC ?? Also recharge ECR by using DEC ...

I am sure we could expand the shop. After these orbs are sold out is that max they will never be avaible again ?

The shop might include things like refill DEC % earned from winning battles, ability to buy beta packs (or whatever packs come after beta) and I will have to think on it more as to what else might be an option. I see DEC having many uses and being of high value.

It would be interesting to have the possibility of exchanging or selling the potions but having beta packs for dec... idk, the benefits of the Splinterlands come mainly from that, so I don't see that happening.

Yeah, buying cards on the market for DEC is something that makes a lot of sense.

About the recharge I am not so sure, it sounds like it would be easily abusable. It kind of counters the point of the capture rate in the first place. You would earn DEC, loose ECR, spend some of your new DEC, earn more DEC and so on and so forth.

Topic: NEW RENTAL MARKET UPGRADES

For those owners and renters using the rental market this will be some good news.

  • Organization tools
  • Changes that will lead to longer rentals
  • and biggest of all showing rented cards to help with price discovery for this market.

READ MORE:

p.s. there are a good handful of cards that desperately need some cards listed. Neutrals, orb promo cards, legendary summoners to name a few.

I love Peakmonsters since day one. I try to do all my card purchases from there and not from the official Splinterlands page, to support you as much as I can. The rental features are awesome but so far I have not been able to profit from them. It is all very confusing and I have no idea what prices to put in there for my cards.

A tutorial for the best practises would be amazing.

We added the ability to see ALL RENTED cards so you can see which ones have been successful.

Topic: Happy First Week Monsters Token BB - I Just Claimed My First Earned Splintertalk Tokens

It is incredible how fast things are moving, when you hover in the proximity of @aggroed and @yabapmatt. These two are thinking for ten and work for twenty people. The Splintertalk token and the connected Monster forum with the new Buildteam software, are absolutely amazing. It is a classic forum feeling but with upvoting. How cool is that?

As the Splintertalk (SPT) is running on SCOT from the Steem-Engine, we are having our own upvote ecosystem with it. All you have to do is to get some SPT on the market (or ask @aggroed if he still has some chunk of the distribution for you) and stake the tokens in your Steem-Enginge wallet by clicking on the lock icon and enter the amount you would like to stake.

SPT staking.PNG

Personally, I am planning on staking all my earned SPT and accumulate it by using the forum regulary, writing good entries and upvote your comments. There is no real usecase for SPT yet but knowing the Splinterland team, this will change eventually. Being an early adopter of a new token economy with inflation system, is incredibly beneficial for your token holdings - you will earn them faster than at any later state in the history of that token. The fewer people use the economy yet, the more of the reward pool is being distributed to the few that do. I am sure this will change quickly, as this is forum is the best way to communicate and share knowledge and ideas about Splinterlands.

Here is a screenshot of my freshly minted tokens from the SPT reward pool. I have to manually claim them, similar to Steem rewards. And then I have to manually stake them as well, if I don't want to sell them right away. Apparently new tokens are not staked automatically, like Steem Power payouts. It appears that 100% are paid out in liquid tokens. I am making sure to stake them and increase my SPT power.

SPT.jpg

What do you think of SPT and what would you like to see implemented to create a demand for it?

Here is a 100% upvote for next weeks payout :)

I agree with you 100%. I see this forum being very popular and I will likely do more posting on here then on Steemit. I too just got my first payment, I like how the amount we have to claim is displayed at the top of Steem-Engine. Also, like you, I plan on staking everything I earn over the next little while.

What do you think of SPT and what would you like to see implemented to create a demand for it?

I think adding a forum and SPT was a smart move. SPT as buy ins for special Splinterland tournaments could help the price.

yepppp glad to see that I could claim some as well and you are correct. Knowing from past experience from the team, keeping them is probably a wise decision :P

@rentmoney and @neoxian: What do you guys think about splitting the voting? Right now we upvote with both Steem and SPT. That is cool and has great advantages (thanks @neoxian for the upvote, that Steem value is impressive!) for platforms like Appics. However, in the Splintertalk forum, I could imagine that people would upvote more, if the Steem upvote is not automatically included in the SPT upvote. Matt already said that this is technically possible but not implemented yet. Would you like to see that the upvotes are seperate or rather keep them together?

Yea um, I actually didn't realize it was both a Steem and SPT vote, so..you guys got lucky with my full Steem vote, congrats, heh. Yea I'll be voting smaller now that I know they are joined. Whether they should be split or not? I'm not sure. Actual Steem votes might attract more people but keeping it pure SPT could be cool too and I could vote 100% much more.

I think ultimately the idea is that we wanted these votes to be split. That way, a whale outside the Splinterlands community would not have that much influence. Trusted members inside the community would be the whales and would hopefully result in better quality forums on specific topics. I happen to be a whale in both here, so for me it doesn't make too much difference in this one case.

Good point. The outside influence would be heavily diminished with split votes. On the other hand, the forum could just show the SPT upvotes (which it does right now already) and ignore all Steem upvotes, so it would be irrelavant whether a whale up- or downvotes the post, as long as the whale has no SPT staked. Hence, I am not sure how much of a factor this actually is.

Getting both Steem and SPT is awesome, no doubt. I just wonder if the forum could profit from allowing SPT upvotes only, encouring more people to use the function. I guess this would have to come with another incentive to earn SPT in the first place. Some sort of sink that is beneficial for the users. Splinterland cards, potions and skins sound like fun. Maybe something that can only be obtained with SPT and no other way.

In the end, we all want to get more and better Splinterlands content and make some sort of profit with our interaction and stake. The classic idea of SMTs and now SCOTs. The right incentive would help to achieve that and make the forum flower with tons of content creators. People would also be incentivized to trade, sell and delegate via the forum as well, since they can earn SPT with that. And others would be able to easier find the cool offers from other people, which otherwise would only be available when they manually hunt through the market.

Wow, I have gotten my next payout. I am now at nearly 2% rewards claimed on the first day, compared to my total stake. That's exactly what I am talking about. Mining SPT is now easy and will never be that easy again, assuming we will actually get a proper sink for the token.

Topic: Which do you prefer: Splintertalk or the forum?

Hey Everyone,

Just wondering what people prefer.

I prefer here sometimes when I have something quick to write that can't justify putting a post for (like now). It also gives a chance for a quick question/answer rather than writing a full blog about.

Splintertalk on the other hand lets me free write and put all my thoughts in one post. I can add lots of screenshots and let me audience understand my ideas/subject.

How about you?

My 2 cents thoughts on forum vs splintertalk.io:

If I just wanna interact with SM users - I will simply use forum, as it's the fastest way to get responses.

Else, I will use Splintertalk.io, if I have time to compile and write some of my personal thoughts :)

I pitch in my 2 cents. I think there is a place for both and this is why blogs and forums on the internet...one cannot replace the function of the other.

For one, the ranking algorithm is completely different. In forums, you get the thread to be engaged with at the top while on splintertalk you get a trending algorithm. Forums are for in-depth discussions with back and forth and a place like splintertalk is when you want to write something that is more like "broadcasting".

The above is what I like about forums. Forum post/topics can be relatively short and need no images and can still get allot of positive responses while the same isn't always true when creating a new topic on a blog site.
