Bali Food Guide - #48 Crate Cafe, Canggu

This might be my last Restaurant review on tasteem, as unfortunately, it seems to die slowly. It is about one of the first vegan hip restaurants I´ve visited in Canggu on Bali. It was before the hype about this small surfertown started, when I visited that place regularly.

The little cafe is called Crate Cafe and is still going strong. This is a institution on the island and can be found on many blogs and travel guides.

My reviews is from times, when the cafe was still at the old location. In the meantime they moved into a bigger building in the same town.

The atmosphere at this place was always friendly and very familiar. They once even celebrated my birthday and made me a cake.

It was one of the first cafes here in Canggu preparing these awesome smoothie bowls and all kind of other vegan dishes you have never heard before. They were absolute trendsetters at the time.

The menu was very special and when you came here for the first time, you could be sure that you did not know one single dish on the menu.

Over the time we had so many different dishes there but these were some of our favorites.

PeasPlease - Peas, Spinach, Avocado, Feta, poached egg and pesto on a sourdough bread. Healthy and absolutely delicious

The Mafia - a wrap as a pizza base topped with mushrooms, feta, rocket and salsa. Awesome dish, I really miss that one

and of course, always a fresh and cold coconut.

I miss that place and those times on Bali. Unfortunately many things have changed and even that little cafe is not what it was before.
