What a beautiful and sobering story, @ericvancewalton. As you said, we are a generation used to the disposable. Our belongings and even our feelings are disposable. I loved the way the watch looked. It really is a relic and an honor, and a commitment, to wear this watch. Sometimes we forget that it is not the objects but what they mean, the history behind them. Thank you for sharing and happy New Year to you and the family.
Thanks, Nancy! You are so right about how much meaning and history have been stripped from our lives but living in a disposable society. I'll never feel the same way about an Apple Watch as I do about this Elgin. The Apple Watch will last a few years (at best) before it's obsolete and is either traded in or thrown away. Happy New Year to you and yours!
