Dead men tell no tales: A silver round with a story to tell...

Following on from yesterday’s post about my 2018 Gibraltar silver coin, today I’m sharing another treasured piece from my collection that holds just as much sentimental weight—if not more. It’s the 1oz “Dead Men Tell No Tales” fine silver round from the Silver Towne Mint, a standout design with a bold pirate theme, but more importantly, a gift from another member of our incredible #silvergoldstackers community.

This round was given to me as part of the famous "Secret Silver Santa" gift exchange—one of the most heart-warming traditions within our little corner of the precious metals world. The generosity and camaraderie that exist within this community never cease to amaze me. Every piece I've received from friends and fellow stackers goes into a separate box—a box that holds more than silver; it holds memories, connections, and shared passion.

A round with character

The "Dead Men Tell No Tales" round isn’t just your average bullion. Minted by Silver Towne, it's a high-quality 1oz .999 fine silver round that oozes character. The front features a classic pirate skull and crossbones motif, complete with a tattered tricorn hat and menacing grin. The phrase “Dead Men Tell No Tales” is etched boldly above, serving as both a chilling warning and a nod to the legends of the high seas. The reverse displays a treasure chest and crossed cutlasses with the Silver Towne hallmark—simple, but striking.

It’s the kind of piece that grabs your attention, whether you’re a pirate enthusiast, a collector of themed bullion, or someone like me who values the story behind the silver.

What makes this round truly special isn’t just its theme or design, it’s the thought behind it. It’s a physical reminder that this community is more than just coin talk and bullion weight it’s a network of like-minded people looking out for one another, swapping stories and silver, and building friendships that span borders.

As I continue to share parts of my stack over the coming weeks, I’ll be highlighting more of these community gifts from my fellow stacking brothers and sisters. Each one holds its own unique story, and every time I open that box of gifted silver, it’s like flipping through a photo album of my stacking journey so far.
