World Coin Wednesday.....
Morning everyone....
Until I figure this whole thing out I guess I’m going to be double posting for a while. Not a huge deal but it would be nice if someone could do a post explaining what front ends are on what platform, it would sure save time.
Either way it’s #worldcoinwednesday.....
Do you recognize this flag ?????
I didn’t......it’s not what the current flag looks like. But it is what the flag looked like at the time this coin was minted.
The flag is of the Republic of China.
I can’t even begin to tell you long it took me to figure out what this coin actually was. The only thing I knew was that it was from Asia. Meaning Japan, China or Korea. What a challenge.....
I do however distinctly remember buying this coin. It was a coin show in Boston about 14 years ago. I was up in Boston for a long weekend to see my Redsox play against the Baltimore Orioles. I honestly had no idea there was even a coin show there at the time.
I had was having lunch at small luncheonette and overheard two guys talking about what they had bought and were passing coins back and forth to each other. On my way out I asked where the show was, they told me and said it was ending in two hours.
It was only a few blocks and I made it in plenty of time. But there were several dealers already starting to break down their displays. As I made my way around the floor there were two tables in the far corner who still had their entire display set up.
I still remember it like it was yesterday. The gentleman was a WW2 veteran which was displayed on the baseball style cap he was wearing. It was adorned with many pins which covered most of the front bill.
His entire display was world coins. As I was flipping through binders of coins, he was telling me stories of his lifetime travels.
I ended up buying only two coins that day because I only had a little over $100 left on me in cash. This is one of them.
