What to Know about Friday the 13th Rare Full Moon
Friday, September 13, 2019
Tonight’s moon is a rare event:
- Full moon
- on Friday the 13th
- Micro-moon
- Full Harvest Moon
This has not happened since October 2000. And it won’t happen again until August 2049.
Sounds pretty lucky to me.
tonight's moon is called a Harvest Moon because it's the last one before the autumnal equinox on Sept. 23 – which signals the beginning of fall
a "micro" moon is when the moon appears smaller since it coincides with the moon's "apogee" or the point where it's farthest from the Earth in it's orbit. Tonight it appears 14% smaller.
Get outside and enjoy the rare moon!

Oh! Great capture! Love the blue!
I'll share my own photo as soon as the moon makes her way over the horizon. She's sure taking her sweet time! Lol, but I can see her light preceding arrival ;)
It's just from my LG Android so I did the best I could, but here she is :) 🌕🌝 Seattle, Washington USA
