RE: My Self-Experiment: Arbitrary Power Used By Arbitrary People

in #steemit6 years ago

Looks like you found out what happened. So the experiment was a success!

Sort:

Sorry that joke had about as much probability of connecting as a Storm Trooper blaster. 🔫

We have this thing called testing for rewards and we will generally make sure these self-vote experiments accurately reflect what can be expected in a non-test scenario.

You never know when people are just using the pretense of testing to abuse the reward pool.

Personally, I believe you but it doesn't matter if the person is flagging purely based on a valuation of the content.

thanks for elaborating. I guess my experiment was pretty successful, but I guess it could be argued as it has been on steemit over the last years about whether self-voting should be considered to be "bad".

I personally am somewhat undecided about this and think that if it is done to a certain level it is acceptable. However as @themarkymark has shown the system breaks down for whales: https://steemit.com/steemit/@themarkymark/4mzmcj-the-reality-of-self-voting-and-steemit

Anyway, I guess it is good that bots flag accounts for spamming, but they should not be that aggressive on self voting in my opinion.

You were not flagged for self voting, you were flagged for spam.

really? okay I actually didn't know

huh, that's a weird way to spell "spam".

aha, right... so it was comment farming...

You were not flagged for self voting, you were flagged for spam.

More bullshit from the King himself!

I never actually flagged him but this is spam and why he was flagged, some call it comment farming, some call it spam. I am not Steem Cleaners, they have their own guidelines.

I know it is difficult for you to understand because you are mad you were flagged for stealing memes and bid botting them many times daily.

Hahahahaha!

Wanna change your story again?
I'll wait, if you bring me popcorn!

Also, your automatic upvote bots seem down.

Just a heads up! :D

@themarkymark by the way, wouldn't it make sense to have a discussion about whether self-voting should be allowed or not and if yes to what level?

I saw that you posted an article about this some years ago and you were kind of undecided about this back then. Why, for example, can't I upvote 5-6 of my posts/comments a day? Why does @realcleaner @mack-bot and so on get to decide this?

I think we should find a middle ground; e.g., I also wouldn't agree with 100% upvoting one's content.

Again, you were not flagged for self voting. You were flagged for spam.

@mack-bot is part of Steem Cleaners, @realcleaner is a rogue bot run by @fulltimegeek that trolls and harasses people.

I flag trash. You have received a flag.

exactly 😅 And I actually like that it is so successful. I just have a problem with how my case was handled.

It was handled how it should have been, you spammed so you got flagged. Where is the problem?

that this was an experiment (which I admit that I should have researched about this before) to see if this kind of behavior is possible on steemit.

The problem that I have is that no one seems to acknowledge this and that I am being categorized as a "spammer" when it is oviously clear by looking through my posts that this is not so. More so, when this has been the first time that I have done this.

I'd like to believe that I am contributing to steemit. See for example:

https://steemit.com/blog/@tobetada/do-followers-really-mean-anything

Thought that was a thoughtful article. Too bad people seem to need to buy votes to get visibility on stuff like that. 🥺

I'm stubborn as a mule. I'd rather not be appreciated than have to pay to be appreciated.

Yes, I agree! Thanks for giving it a read @anthonyadavisii !

Cabal? One of my favorite MK characters but spelled with a 'K'.

Used to spam the hell out of the web spin and fireballs.

As for stealing Steem, why do you insist with this idea that payout is yours before 7 days? It's not how it works. It is not stealing.

You used to copy/paste video links for rewards. That is indefensible. Just drop it already.

Someone should really let @themarkymark know that copy/paste for rewards is indefensible...

https://steemit.com/meme/@themarkymark/next-colony-meme-contest-win-10-steem

it is not stealing only inside your head , in reality this is no different than walking into starbucks and stealing tip jar .

If I leave $0.01 tip to someone that means I want that person to get $0.01 and you have no right to take it away .

The analogy doesn't work. It's more like a reallocating from a finite pool that is intended to reward constructive behaviors.

So, a better example would be a guy taking a dump on the sidewalk, their accomplice (could be their inside guy ie unscrupulous bid bot) allocating payment from that finite fund for that activity. Then another person with authority over the fund allocation sees that and chooses to reverses the misallocation... Because obviously we don't want to be incentivizing people taking a dump in the street.

If everyone was willing to put in actual work for their contributions, we wouldn't have a problem.
