RE: ALERT: SBD Print Rate at 1%: Everyone Posting Must Use the 100% Power Up Option... Now!
At 100% SP you get 2/0.4=5 SP (STEEM). At 50-50 you get 1/0.4=2.5 SP plus $1 is turned into 1 SBD worth 80 cents = 2 STEEM if sold on the market.
2.5+2 < 5
The inequality holds whatever the price of STEEM, so long as SBD<$1.
This is true if the second half is fully paid in SBD. However, due to the current SBD debt at (close to) 10% there is (close to) no SBD payed out. In the current state with 50/50 you'd get 2.5 SP + 2.5 STEEM, so exactly the same (in value) as for the 100% power-up setting. Both the debt ratio and the SBD/STEEM price can change within the next 7 days, so it's hard to say which payout option is really "better" now.
Look at the screenshot:
I got more SP than liquid Steem.
0.202SP to 0.197 liquid Steem, with 0 SBD.

I guess that it is due to the conversion of SBD to Steem that he wrote about, that is performed in order to calculate how much liquid Steem a user receives.

What you showed and linked is a
claim_rewards
operation, including several rewards (in this case an author reward and a curation reward):You can see that the actual author reward share is almost identical (0.197 vs. 0.198) - the differences are just rounding artifacts.
Correct.
I just switched back to a 50%/50% after I read your reply.
Does an automatic conversion of SBD to Steem occur in the calculation of author rewards in cases where liquid Steem replaces some or all of the liquid SBD?

Yes, at this moment, with nearly all the SBD-payout going into STEEM, it makes little difference which payout option one chooses.
SBD has not been below $1 for a year, hence I suspect many have forgotten to switch payout option, but this low SBD Print Rate has done everyone a favour as it increases overall payouts by having the same effect as the 100% Power Up option.
I've been writing about changing payout option for a couple of weeks and many seemed mystified. Whenever SBD print rate returns to 100%, I'll post about it again :-)
For now, as you say, one need do nothing - just be aware of what may happen when the SBD debt ratio falls below 9%.
I believe this is the correct take. I have seen payouts of Steem, SBD and SP all on one...
Don't jump into 100% payouts, just yet, ya all!!!
