Prayer Is Essential In The Life Of A Leader

Everyone already heard about Nehemiah, the leader who led the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah met fundamental characteristics of leader, and today I want to talk about two of these marks in the life of that great man.

Nehemiah led a complicated process, rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem! But in order to reach his objective, Nehemiah had to gather in himself some important points so that his leadership would be efficient.

The first of these points is to bring directly to God the problems that appear. And there were many problems that Nehemiah faced before concluding his trip. What is our reaction when we are facing a problem or a need? Normally, our human nature leads us to think about how we can solve this. Or, still, we try to find a culprit who is responsible for that problem.

Nehemiah acted differently. Instead of finding solutions to limitations or blaming other people for problems, Nehemiah handed the problem over to God. He prayed and delivered the problem into the hands of the One who is really capable of solving anything.

Prayer is essential for the life of a leader. First because it makes us wait to act. He does not have how to pray and act at the same time. Second, prayer causes light to reach my vision. Clear the thoughts and, with it, organize the actions to take.

Third, prayer calms our hearts. In the same way that we can not pray and act, it is also impossible to pray and worry. If we are looking for a solution with Him who can do everything, how can we worry? Prayer replaces the anxiety for serenity. And there's nothing better than having a fresh head to solve problems!

Finally, prayer activates our faith. After we pray, we are more inclined to trust in God. Prayer ignites our faith. Prayer was the first weapon used by Nehemiah in his battle to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Remember, God is the specialist we need for impossible experiences. Nehemiah appealed to Him, and you have done it?

The life of prayer needs to be the north of the Christian leader.
Above all, a leader must be a person of vision and insight, who not only has his "followers" behind him and with him, but also leads them with confidence and joy of what is before him: the Kingdom of God and His glory, because "for lack of vision the people live without brakes" (Prov 29,18).

In the world we live in, it's easy to rely upon self to handle situations. We really lack the strength and wisdom that is needed. God supplies all of our needs; not always what we think we need, but truly what we do need. You are so right that prayer is essential. It's so easy to forget that true strength and the wisdom to handle all situations is that which He supplies. He will carry us when we can't walk. Thank you for your post.
