Sndbox's Share Your Project

I am writing this particularly to share this community that we have been growing since November, 2017 since @sndbox has launcheed this #share_your_project channel. I write this in my capacity as a co-founder of this community. My significant other, @sireh is the founder of this wonderful community called #steem-cartoon. We consider ourselves relatively a small community that has been growing at a healthy pace. Our community is meant for the cartoonists, artists, reviewers, critics, fans and observers.

Why We Need Steemit

The artists that we have all met complain about the same problem. The medium that they have used to sell their work to the public has changed so much that it is no longer a viable and sustainable industry. The normal sale of cartoon and comic through the newstand or the newspaper vendor no longer apply in the age of social media. This problem is further amplified by the fact that many of these contents are provided free. Then the question that begs to be asked, how does one generate income?

The paradigm shift has been a massive one and as a result the industry suffers a major talent drainage. Many have left the industry to pursue other careers and that is a big loss to our community. When we first came to know of steemit and the steem blockchain, we wanted to know if indeed a system that works without paying subscribers or advertisers two question will invariably be asked, how does the platform sustain itself and how does the content providers get paid.

Our Personal Verification

Not all of us are educated in the blockchain technology and how this Proof-of-Brain concept works. With an open mind, we tried it out and made our first withdrawal. Well, it seems legitimate and withdrawal was a breeze. It also seem well grounded because the artists are paid for their hardwork and it is not free money.

We took this platform and tried with a close group of friends who are renowned artists and cartoonists in Malaysia and the result was quite encouraging. Looks like a community engagement returns a better yield than individual engagements. That was when we took it one step further and introduced this as a university project in the University that @sireh teach. There, the immediate participation of a strong 30 students, past and present accounted for most of the posts that comes under the tag #steem-cartoon.

We are Hooked

After the introduction of this platform to the close circle of friends and to the University students, our feedback was amazing. There was letter of compliment by the University administration for a job well done. The introduction of steemit is a real life introduction to a practical area that comes immediately after graduation, the quest to find a decent paying job. With the cartoon and comic industry in its traditional form in a dire state, the new media is the only way forward and the steem blockchain seems to be the answer.

One thing lead to another and now within 2 short months, we are at the brink of introducing the Stee Blockchain as a source of income to our creative industry nationwide. We never have thought that in a short 2 months, we are able to achieve so much. It has also not crossed our minds that the people that we used to idolise as kids when we read the fortnightly cartoon magazine are now taking positive steps to engage us and understand this alien concept.

We are Humbled

We continue to seek active engagement and in many communities we found our allies. People whom we regard as our close friends. We are thankful to #teammalaysia, #ocd-resteem, #steemiteducation and others who had shown relentless support.

The purpose we write this is again to say thank you and it is also right to remind ourselves the problem that is facing our community and why this community was introduced. We hope that our project continue to find a place in your heart for some meaningful engagement.

I am so thrilled to see so many talented artists here! great job to you pioneering the project and expanding it. Although I am not sure what is sndbox but it sounds cool. Now true artists can be rewarded ;)

Hi...how is ur son doing? Maybe he has an aspiration to draw as well as uncle @sireh...yes great platform to be paid.

t.kasih buat abg perennial dan abg sireh atas usaha ini..mmg satu platform yg diperlukan buat industri kita.

Tq abg rambai. Jom kambing bakar sotong besar....

@perennial. This is an applaudable effort because you manage to revive a dying industry. I believe Malaysia core strength in the creative industry can be further leveraged from Steemit platform.

Couldnt have done it if it wasnt because @sireh was rallying support for the community.

I am inspired. and even thinking how I can help set up similar community for those that need help such as people with down syndrome. Because my son has down syndrome and would like to create something meaningful and also help others in similar situation.

Wow...if u set up such a community we are all behind u. It is a meaningful thing to do and u are a great father for doing that.

@ellibong drawing is so adorable as always!
