Upcoming Bunny Hash is going to be one to not miss!

The Bunny Hash is opening up an event for everyone, and it is going to be a special occasion because the Hare who is planning the event is extremely knowledgeable about the area because it is right behind her house. The fact that she is an excellent cook and is preparing food for us makes this even better.

Her Hash name is "Anyone" and she is being assissted in setting this up by her co-hare "Miss Fortune."

The Bunny Hash events are always kind of nice if they allow the men to participate because I'll be honest here, they do a much better job with the accommodating aspects of the runs. We rarely have anything to eat at all, they always have full meals and what makes this extra special and super generous of them is that they do not charge any add-on price for the food. It is just there and they are super generous to do something like this for us.

They are definitely not obligated to allow men, and the men's Hash never allows women and this is not a sexist thing, it is just tradition. When the Hash House Harriers were established nearly 100 years ago, it was a men only organization that was done with officers in the British Military in Malaysia. Anyone with any military experience is probably very familiar with the separation of men and women, and how it frequently happens.

part of the reason why the Bunny Hash is allowing men at the moment is because our local Hash has experienced a real drop off in the amount of women that are actually participating right now. We are more than 80% men and we don't actually actively recruit.

Also, Thailand is considerably more conservative than other countries, and the Hash House Harriers are a very crude organization and that is probably off-putting to a lot of traditional Thai women. We don't go out of our way to be insulting or anything, but part of the entire focus or tradition of the Hash is that we are silly and intentionally pick on people even though it is meant in jest.

The women that do participate seem to enjoy it just as much as the men do though, and the exclusion that the men have with our "male only" Hash events are based solely on tradition and nothing else.

This isn't America, so there will never be any sort of lawsuit attempting to force us to certain gender inclusive and we even have a few ladyboys in our ranks and the rule for them is we do not care what gender you associate as, but in our ranks you have to choose one, and participate accordingly. You can't be a women on Bunny days and a man on Male-only Hash days. Nobody complains about this and everything is fine.

But if you happen to be in Chiang Mai on the 25th of May, this is going to be a really special day because the trail is going to be pristine since our host knows all the areas and local people and is going to be able to put together one heck of a trail with no worries about the usual trespassing.

If you don't know much about Thai food that isn't going to matter. I have no idea what she is going to prepare but I have had snacks of hers in the past and they were absolutely divine. You just need to be a little bit careful and ask before you chomp in about whether or not it is spicy. When a Thai women says "a little spicy" that really means that it has the potential to melt your tongue. The spice threshold of the average Thai person is something that always amazes me.
