80-Year old RUNS 17 Miles A DAY!!! First Nike Commercial, Walk Stack
Walt Stack was an Amazing man. He is THE person that the famous fitness guru, Jack Lalanne said was the fittest person in the world..."If only he watched what he ate..." Jack said. They both died around the same age, in their early 90's, Jack went pretty quickly from pneumonia, Walt was sick for the last few years of his life.
From 1966-1993, covered a set training route in San Francisco. He often said, "I'm going to do this 'til I get planted". His DAILY WORK OUT was, that means EVERY DAY, getting up at 2:30 and finishing at 6:15 was:
- 6-Mile BIKE ride up the hilly San Francisco streets
- 17-mile RUN (27 km) route over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and back.
- 1-Mile SWIM in the dangerous currents of the San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island.(Walt was a prisoner there for 6 months btw).
During races he would often drink beer also, he was a fun guy who grabbed life by the Pu$$y...I hope he can be an inspiration for others to exercise daily and most of all ENJOY LIFE!!!
Here is an article in Sports Illustrated where they interviewed Walt:
