RE: Steemit Portrait Photography Contest Week 16 Theme Halloween! 6 Year Old @qiqi-power Does Her Own Halloween Face Paint!
very tribal, I like her painting job! I've always LOVED face painting and started early with it for Halloween as well. In my family we always - even at aged 5 - made our own costumes and although they weren't sophisticated, they gave us a great creative outlet and I got really into it every year. The last real costume I put a lot of time into was in the late 1990s and I was a bird with these giant gold wings. I cut out and layered each gold foil feather, painted my face, and wore clothes that worked with it. Somewhere I have a photo, and if I find it I'll share it. Another of my favs from long ago my boyfriend at the time was the North wind and I was the South wind. No one knew what we were unless we told them but we have the greatest time making our costumes. Anyway, thanks for this post and giving me the chance to remember this much loved activity from earlier years! Who knows, maybe I'll do it again soon.
Yes being creative is fun!
I was into making costumes as a child though don't get to much into halloween these days. The children dress up regularly and we don't really celebrate holidays so its not to big a deal hehe.
I would love to see some photos of our costumes as I know your an inspired artist. Artists costumes are always the best!
The Golden Wings sound awesome!
I don't get into Halloween much anymore either because inevitably there's a ton of candy and that stuff is just poison. I do like seeing the trick or treaters out in my neighborhood though and we usually try to take a walk when it's light out and they are out so we can see them. When I have a chance I'll see if I can find some old photos but it's kind of a rabbit hole when I start looking through old photos so it'll have to wait until some evening when I have a little extra time.
Your family doesn't celebrate holidays? I can understand lots of reasons for this, but I have to admit that I love the excuse to celebrate, I should also say that I don't buy into the commercialism of holidays so that's not an issue for me, just love the extra joy of an event. Anyway, have a beautiful Sunday @quinneaker!
Yes I am always happy to celebrate in sustainable and holistic ways!
Though we live a life of unprecedented freedom, so we don't really need vacations, weekends or holidays.
Also all holidays are not only commercialized but full of dogma etc.
I love to see people happy and celebrating though so atlas holidays achieves some of that....besides all the ones who commit suicide on those days......
Ok to end on a POSITIVE note hahahaha
BLESSINGS!
