Photo Thieves Beware! You're Looking At The New "Photo Sheriff" On Steemit!

Photo Sheriff

As an amateur photographer, nothing would upset me more than seeing someone take a photo of mine, post it here on Steemit and making money on it while making it look like their own photo. Well, that's exactly what's going on in the photography section here on Steemit and it's gotta end.

Since joining Steemit earlier this month, I've been trying to figure out how I could best serve the community as a whole.

I believe in this community! And I love the photography community here on Steemit! I don't want to see it overrun with people that have never taken a photo in their lives that post other people's work. It needs to be a community where actual photographers can share their work and be found.

And that's why I'm taking it upon myself to find each and every one of these to report to the @steemcleaners to get this site free of those that would do it harm by selfishly using other people's work to profit without providing any value to the community.

I'm posting this as an open warning to all those that use photos without proper attribution that I'm coming for you! There's no more free ride in the photography community here on Steemit! Do it right or get out! If you take someone else's work and try to make it look like you did it, I will find you and I will take you down.

Find You!

@brendanwenzel Steemsheriff! That made me smile.
I found it good if we see active members doing some free work to improve the community. There is a lot of noise coming and a lot of copies. If I want to share something posted by a steemian, I just resteem it. Also thanks for the tip with @steemcleaners. Will need to use to get rid of some follow me, follow you bots. These are also a pain.

Haha, you are funny! I will send a report your way if I see one

A great service, there is alot of that occuring right now. Following!

Oh man, I'm finding so much of it today.

You are appreciated!!!

@acidyo --- this guy is on photo patrol!!!

@steemitqa -- this guy might have some great shots for the @thedailysteemit

Thank you @clevercreator! I just want to do my part to make this community better. :)

You are doing great!!! and My pleasure.

Following you back, and am totally with you on helping to stop the photo theft that sadly happens a lot around here. Photographers don't always make that much in the real world, and for some thief to steal their hard work, and make money on here infuriates me, and they need to be flagged and called out.

And I think that's what makes me so mad about it. It's not they are sharing someone's photo, but that they are making money from it and providing 0 of that to the original person who put the work into getting that photo.

now that will be a good thing. thank for your service here as a photo sheriff.

A) Agree, and I always credit any work I post that I don't hold the copyright to (and get permission)
B) slippery slope. You used a gif, I see. The images it uses are not your work. I mean, the cinematographer was well paid and has no need for your pennies, but the point remains. You must be blameless if you're going to be the sheriff!

True, but there's a huge difference between using a GIF and doing what this guy is doing https://steemit.com/animal/@tahirafd17/a-leopard-toward-snow-covered-mounts

This is the kind of nonsense I'm looking to shut down. As you can see, he uses only the photo, with no attribution and even makes it look like he took it. I could care less about GIFs or Memes as it's a much different intention.

Oh man, yeah, that's awful.
Nonetheless, I think you can provide value with a stolid Lawful Good outlook. :)

Like, I'm not trying to chastise you, but I know I feel extra irritated when I see a cop roll through a stop sign. It's like, no big deal, but also, those who enforce the law must be above reproach by virtue of their unreproachable behavior.

Who polices the police, you know? That's me, but inconsistently and without any real power.

I totally get it man! I'm the same way. One thing I promise is that I will never claim or make it look like I took a photo that I didn't. Got too much respect for what photographers go through to get these shots to do that.

Thumbs up!

Haha this post is funny, but it is so true!
I am no photography expert, but I did always wonder if people were doing that then posting them:)
upvoted and resteemed

I can usually just tell when something's not right with a photo someone posted. Then I'll just take the photo, do a reverse search with Google Images and can quickly tell if they took it themselves or not.

Haha awesome, it's like why not! Just please don't report my posts! I make my fiance take all the photos of my stuff:)

hahah you got nothing to worry about @dillonford 😁🤠

Thankyou! Haha I was sweating on that one!

I'm sure you were! Feeling better yet?

Idk if your referring to my hangover, or the sweating....but Yes! Lol alot better
