Slow progress is better than no progress - PEvO report

Time is right for an update about PEvO!

Since a couple of weeks, @shak is building up networks in the scientific community as well as the bigger blockchain space. His own introduction will follow soon, don't miss it!
This has lead to a couple of impressive names signaling interest, it's not far enough to disclose them yet though. Except one.

Today, we finally had our first Skype call with the author of the metastudy cited extensively in our whitepaper, Nikolaus Kriegeskorte. He loves our ideas and in the end he agreed to be an official advisor of the PEvO project!

He stated, like others before, that the main problem will be convincing researchers to switch to our platform. They are used to what they already use, and as bad as the current process is, everyone has found their ways to deal with it.
The superior technology is not enough of a reason by itself. But the Impact Points system is under heavy critique, and providing a sound alternative to that is our greatest angle. If we can provide a system through which we will be able to evaluate the quality of the work, we can provide an incentive to switch.

So what we need are people from all over the publishing process to work out what makes a contribution worth something. If you think you or someone you know would be a great match for us, please recommend!

We have some more materials as hand outs to present the project, and everyone's welcome to contribute wherever they feel they can.

Thanks for your support!

This is one of the most interesting projects to be implemented on Blockchain. If you happen to fit in to contribute or if you know someone who could contribute, please extend your helping hand.

There are golos.io very good programmers in the project. They did a lot with a variety of improvements on golos.io.

Maybe you invite them to your project?

One of the obvious advantages of the blockchain for scientific publication is the ability to securely document the time of the publication of a scientific discovery. Maybe PEvO will in the beginning not replace the traditional journals (they are generating much more reputation than a newly startet web project), but offer a tool for pre-publication scientific discoveries. - In other words, maybe you should invent a new kind of scientific publication. Scientist could publish small discoveries (pre-papers) on PEvO to prove they discovered it first, as well as regular scientific papers.

That sound really good!

Have a nice day!!

hope this does well

Any news on this project? I am really anxious to know more. Thank you again @pharesim

This could potentially change the world. If #pharma alone saw this post, they would try to shut it down in a heart beat. I will keep an eye on this. Hope I can help somehow.

This is something I was just wondering about yesterday! Glad to see you all moving forward, even if it is inch by inch. One thing that I think must be overcome is that researchers are very particular about high impact factor, and this would need to be addressed as they want to be able to show that they published their research somewhere with IF during tenure and review.

Right! This is where we need expertise to brainstorm and perhaps help formulate it in the most effective way.

Yes, that is something I see in in my field often - the resistance to change. We just did an upgrade to an add-in tool and are users fought us tooth and nail because the UI was a bit different even though the new tool is 5 times better.

Once you breakthrough that big initial levee though, momentum gains week as people realize the new way is much better.

Best of luck with the progress!

I will tell you if i find some. If I can help to publish please tell me how and what is to do.
