FISH OUT OF WATER

in #oc5 years ago (edited)

This artsy mix of scientific names and random photoshop visions without a defined point of view ...
(Enlargeable)
... started as a cat food project ... and, at the end, actually ended up like one ... but now is too soon to explain this claim ...
IMG_1031 malo.jpg
... now is time to write a name of this species - Pagellus erythrinus, a fish from a sandy or muddy seafloor, present at various depths ... from the shallows, a meter or few ... till the 100 meters approximately ... in contrast with the first picture, on this photograph you can see how this fish really looks - when is dead and out of water ...

... and here is a slightly surreal interpretation of the School of Pagellus erythrinus in motion.

The work on this post started a few days ago, when a friend, who is also on Steemit - @denisdenis, and is curently working on a fishing boat, brought me two buckets of small, commercially insignificant fish, but still very tasty and edible, so that I can mix it with old bread for my cats ... or fry it for myself and who ever passes by ... and the cats too, of course ... the cats get at least some of it in any case.

The fish on this photograph is the Spicara smaris ... aside from the mud or sand habitats, this species likes the vast sea grass meadows and small patches of sea grass. Although you can encounter them in shallow water, they have also been found at 320 meters in the Ionian Sea.

And here is a little animation with the Spicara smaris corpse.

As I was sorting and cleaning the fish to prepare it for the immediate cooking and the deep freeze archiving ... I remembered an old pile of blue paper, that lies in my room, under the bed for more than a decade at least and I have no idea how these sheets of paper arrived ... but they are here, the color is vivid and beautiful ...and so I envisioned some images with some of those fishes.
IMG_1041 malo.jpg
This is the Scorpaena scrofa, a pretty young exemplar ... this fish can be found from 20 to 100 meters, on any kind of seafloor, but prefers the mix of mud and rocks where her camouflage works the best.

This is a little fish - fantasy in motion with the Scorpaena scrofa.
IMG_1029 maloTRIPI.jpg
I took the fish, put it on paper and took a few shots ... although the dead fishes did look better and more vivid than I actually expected, when seen in that paper - sea ... to make a post only with those pretty stiff images, seemed a bit boring and empty ... so I decided to put a bit of imagination into the sea food mix.
IMG_1029 malo.jpg
This is a typical inhabitant of the deep muddy habitat ... some species of Solea ... I don't know if it is a phase in the growth of the Solea solea or some other species.
IMG_1036 malo TRIPI.jpg
Among the many sorts of fish ...
IMG_1036 malo.jpg
... I found also this small mud crab (I don't know the exact species) covered with algae for a very convincing camouflage.
IMG_1034 malo.jpg
Here is a look at the other side of the crab ...

... and here ... a creepy GIF with the dead creature and its moving shadow. On the following picture ...

... is another small crab I found in the mix ...
IMG_1045 malo.jpg
... and there is not much else that I can tell you about this species.

Here you can take a more up - close look ...

... and here - dive deeper into the mystery.

Back to the fish ... this is Mullus barbatus barbatus, very appreciated as sea food, with soft, delicate flesh and nice specific aroma. This is a mud and sand seafloor inhabitant, typical for deeper water, can be found in depths till 350 meters ... but usually is caught on 50 - 60 meters ...

... and this - is another creepy, a bit Lynchian, GIF with the Mullus barbatus barbatus fish.

Another picture, another trippy fish ...
IMG_1044 malo.jpg
... the fast and hydrodynamic Trachurus trachurus this time ... with big, very sensitive eyes ... present on various depths, from the shallows to 1000 meters in a variety of habitats.

This interesting blue fish ...
IMG_1047 malo.jpg
... that isn't blue in reality ... is one of the Triglidae species ...

9 fish OUT WATER GIF 9.gif

... don't know which one exactely ...

(Enlargeable)
... and here ...
IMG_1049 malo.jpg
... is another ... very similar ... Triglidae type of fish ... these are the typical sandy/muddy seafloor creatures that use the leg - like parts of their fins to search for food in the sand.
IMG_1030 malo.jpg
This is a small Serranus hepatus ... another fish from the sands in the deep.
2 fish OF waterGIF 2.gif
Here is a colorful motion - fantasy with this species ... and now ...
IMG_1033 malo.jpg
... for the end ... a tasty mollusc ...

3 fish OUT waterGIF 3.gif

... the iconic Chlamys varia ... cought in a never - ending circle... THE END.

Borjan, I'm your fan a fan of your art (and the fish!). it simply has something for me.
cat food project? ha! I like it more with a pinch of photoshop :))) processed versions I enjoyed much more... but hmm... probably cats will vote for original nature's editions -- and they would be profoundly correct.

have some dark !BEER, my friend. to celebrate the fact that we've seen the back of another black day (c)

Thank you my friend. This is a great compliment, and incentive to create stuff on Steemit. The fish were cooked and eaten soon after by me & the cats - tasted a bit like photoshop, but still edible. :D

Really interesting creatures,
most of them I have never seen ...
I saw posts of @denisdenis, and they are really exciting!
Also liked your animations, tell me please, in what program you create them!)

I prepare the sequences in Photoshop and then I open them in program called Gif animator, a free version of it ... I saw many of this GIF makers around to download and use.

Thanks for the info, I will need to try)

:) Great ... is relatively easy and a lot of fun.

Great shots ...cool moving ones 👀😄👍

Thanks :) I had a lot of fun doing the moving ones
