Remember To Be Mindful

I've been taking inspirational morning walks before I start painting. It's amazing how much things change on a day to day basis that we just let slip through our observations. I've been as guilty as anyone else about letting routine get in the way. That changed a lot when my wife and I were on the road for three months. Each day we were unplugged from the general hive, the deeper we began to appreciate our surroundings.

These walks keep that curious spirit alive in me. Yesterday, the landscape was encapsulated in frozen fog. Today, a beautiful sunrise melts the icy tendrils across the frigid land. The high desert is especially keen on showing you the constant change all around us. The same changes occur within everyday.

We're a swirl of thoughts and actions that tend to become blind to our surroundings and ourselves. Take the time right now, to not only analyze your environment, but also yourself. We tend to ignore the signs our bodies and minds try to communicate with us. By connecting back to yourself, everything else begins to balance. Ask yourself what you really want. Let that passion, whatever it may be, drive you forward toward its achievement.
