Some (mostly electronic) stuff you should check out on musicoin.org
Shortly after getting on steemit, I came across this site called musicoin.org while checking out some music on a friend's blog here. Turns out that it was one of the coolest things I've come across in a while. Not only do I love the idea, but I've found a lot of great music there as well. I'm posting this to share some of it. This is by no means an exhaustive list, so you should go have a look around for yourself once you've gotten a taste with the stuff I'm sharing below.
Before I get into the music, I'd like to give shout outs to @amphlux for helping me get started here, and @atomcollector for not only helping me find some great new music via Atom Collector Records, but also doing so much to help out the music community around here with ACR and other stuff. Seeing such passion for music fills me with warm fuzzies. They both also have some great music which I'll be pointing you to below.
First up, Amphlux. A range of various cool electronica here, with a tendency toward the darker side of things. Lots of cool stuff to check out here, and more if you follow the links (which is true for most of these, btw).
Next is Juxta, project of the guy also behind above-mentioned Atom Collector Records. Another one that's hard to pin down, though a fair amount of what I've heard so far would fit under the 'post-punk' umbrella I guess. Some stuff strays into more electronic territory.
Now, on to IX. This act brings us back into the electronic area, this time tending towards the ambient side of things. Sometimes dark, sometimes just strange, but so far I've liked everything I've heard.
Keeping with the electronics, we'll move on to Karigen. I first found this guy's stuff through the Rootwork Collective, which you should also check out. Tends towards the trancey side of electronica, with some great ambient moments, and occasional glimpses of EBM influence.
Last, but not least: Techdirector. This was a more random find, but one I really enjoyed. I'm not a music journalist, but I guess I would call this IDM. Whatever it is, it's pretty cool.
So there you go, a nice little dip of the toes into the wonderful world of musicoin.org. I like to share good music I find, so I'll at least occasionally be posting stuff like this with pointers to stuff I've enjoyed.

Yeah, musicoin.org rocks. It certainly got the attention for indie musicians, and is an interesting alternative to SoundCloud. But for musicoin to really make it big, they need to become equally interesting for listeners. My impression so far is that it is mostly musicians using musicoin. It will be very interestjng to follow how this evolves over the next year. Plus there are several other similar sites out there or in the works (I wrote a piece about it a while back) Emenate, Fenix.cash, Aurovine...
Agreed on the listener thing. Apparently they have some plans there. It is definitely mostly musicians so far, but we'll see how their plans address that I guess. I think fans may start to show up more if artists push it too. I think that's kind of a cycle though... the better it gets for listeners, the more artists will want to send their fans. I'm optimistic, but like you say, we'll see.
I'll have to check out your article, the only other one I've come across is Emenate, which did look interesting.
I guess you have a point there, when momentum builds, more listeners will join in.
