Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Cover) If happy little blue birds fly... why can't I?
This is a candid recording, live and unedited from my home studio... I've not felt very well these past few days so I spent lots of time indoors, drinking herbal tea and watching the storms raging outside :). I intended this as an @openmic entry but sadly I messed forgetting to say the intro absolutely!! so just sharing it as it is :) out of the weekly competition. But I take the chance to send a greeting to all the @openmic community and @luzcypher as well.

"Over the Rainbow" is a 1939 ballad composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg It was written for the movie soundtrack of The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland in one of the most iconic musical moments on film. We are celebrating 7k followers on youtube and I also wanted to say thanks to a particular patron Adrian Nunn for his constant support. I know this is his favourite film so I went for a candid live recording at the home studio that I hope he likes it.
I also know this is one of Serena's @paintingangels favourites as she made me sing it over discord one day. I sing about birds and rainbows and I miss you girl....! Oh I miss the virtual karaoke parties with Serena and @pechichemena :) Should we arrange one one day?

There was also a very magical moment happening with @edprivat last @steemfest while we were in backstage we improvised a duet and it was magical, sadly the only recording I have is so noisy that I could not share it, but hope we get to do it better one day :)

Ya know, Judy Garland overdid it a bit for the movie, but back then people loved everything over the top.
Appreciate the little hint of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's tender verse additions. Please keep singing forever for us.
Whenever I do a cover is with utter respect to the original but also trying to provide my own spirit to it. I like Israel's version, in fact @edprivat knows it superwell and I dueted with him in @steemfest backstage but I confess even before Israel's version came to be I had added myself that little transition chord, it's just a "pass through" chord and it's kind of natural if you want to pause. But yes, both versions are beautiful and it's a beautiful song. I opened a patreon (patreon.com/yidneth) and honestly it's not working much but there is a particular patron that has stand the longest :) and I know it's his favourite movie, so loving the song myself I thought it would be a kind thank you as well.

Aww I still remember our improv moment at the backstage, it was somehow so relaxing with all the nerves going on, I have a wee of video but it was like all kinds of noisy, Katrina was humming to herself, people rushing here and there, and we were caught in it hahaha it was lovely though. I made this for a patron at patreon who's been there a long time, I like the song too of course, but I know it's his favourite movie, also Serena (paintingangels) here once told me to play it so I thought like giving it a go LOL. I forgot to say the open mic intro though ahahha XD so out of competition but a candid shot to it
Your candid stuff is just as magical as the pro stuff so if you feel inclined or inspired to share more candid unedited stuff I’m not going to complain 🙃

Thank you for listening :) I tried to sing all very lullabyish and softly :) tone was rather comfortable to be honest, I think it's one semitone higher than the original
