Why is it so difficult for us to achieve our dreams?steemCreated with Sketch.

How many New Year's resolutions were met? Have you reached your career goals? Have you changed others' lives? Not many people say “yes” to all these questions. Sometimes it's so hard to realise our dreams that we question if we're too ambitious.

Internal reasons we struggle to attain our dreams
People have some power over their fate and success. Even when the path is flat, we may unknowingly add stones. Few of these hazards are listed below.

  1. Postponing
Comfort zones are hard to leave. Sometimes effort is put off until later when one is more energetic. While understandable at times, it becomes troublesome over time.

Time management is negatively linked to student procrastination in the Journal of Education and Training Studies. The later they departed, the less organised.

  1. Intolerant of failure and dissatisfaction
Dreams never follow a straight route. It changes based on little wins and losses along the way. However, others have not internalised this and been demotivated by setbacks.

Accepting setbacks and moving on is key to achieving your dreams. In a study on adolescents, Valiente-Barroso et al., 2021, found this. Good frustration tolerance is linked to active planning and decision-making.

  1. Low self-esteem can hinder your goals.
Another finding from the study is possible. High self-esteem predicts active decision-making. Along with the mind's illusion, believing we can't achieve a dream is one of the biggest difficulties.

  2. Indiscipline
Psicodebate magazine defines self-discipline as self-control and perseverance. This helps you reach long-term goals.

This is difficult, yet we know these factors contribute to success in many fields. Thus, developing this personality trait is advised.

Your portion is right. Everything that assures our success is outside our control. Undisputedly, the locus of control can be external. See what challenges people endure on their way to success.

Social class affects self-confidence and life success. The 2020 APA survey found that upper-class participants were more confident. This mentality fostered rivalry and increased their social position.

However, resources also affect success. Privilege affects impacts, opportunities, basic care, oppression, and money distribution.

This perspective, frequently erroneous, is individual but also societal because it evolves from the surroundings. After hearing about political corruption conspiracies, many individuals would subconsciously believe they cannot change this picture.

Conformist thinking that repeats “this is how it is, there is nothing we can do” makes it hard to realise our dreams. The perceived lack of control discourages progress.

When pursuing a long-term objective, supporters provide emotional and psychological support. Although success should not depend on it, it diminishes its chances when we must fight for our dreams and defend ourselves from others' trips and social apathy.

If our dreams are so expensive, let's build bridges.
Nobody transforms the world alone. A lifelong desire can be realised in today's world, but it won't be easy.

Remember that hard work and sacrifice pay off. Communities, associations, volunteering, and comforting a fallen child all matter.

Many of us want the same thing, but we need to know ourselves, making it hard to achieve our dreams.
