Genes Vs Genetic Expression and Victim Mentality Vs Empowerment
My main goal of this post is to empower people when it comes to health
We often hear the following statements:
"its genetic"
"It runs in the family"
"My mom/dad has this so I will"
Truth is we are not subject to the same diseases that our relatives suffered from.
This is the difference between Genes and Genetic Expression.
Think about it did your great grandmother have type 2 diabetes?
Did your great grandfather have Alzheimers?
Chances are the answer is no.
Our genes have not changed much over the last 10,000 years.
So why do we suddenly see such a huge rise in chronic disease? its not the genes its the genetic expression or epigenetics.
Fact is, we have about 20,000 genes. We all have "bad" and "good" genes.
What matters is which genes do we transcribe or express.
What we do, eat, drink, breathe and even think alters our gene expression.
To conclude, rather than playing victim to the bad genes which "run in your family"
I encourage all of you to make the right lifestyle choices which will promote the expression of all your "good:" and healthy genes.
This post rings true, but you failed to mention what a healthy lifestyle is. Most people think that when they get up in the morning and have bacon, eggs and toast smothered with butter they are eating a healthy diet.
What they don't know is that Bacon is a type 1 carcinogen and causes cancer. They don't know that their eggs are full of saturated fat and cholesterol and the butter is full of saturated fat, bovine leukemia virus and other disgusting things.
I recommend that everyone eat a Whole Food Plant Based Diet, but that is not an option for most people, so at least follow the DASH diet. Be active, keep your thoughts positive and love one another.
Great post it's so important not be feel like a victim to your own biology, epigenetics makes this health game all the more interesting. If your not already aware of her work check out Dr. Rhonda Patrick shes done a lot to spread this same message.
