I knew about Bitcoin in 2011 and was interested. I'm not rich despite that.

Even in early 2013 I tried to buy some when it was just $10. It was really hard to buy Bitcoin even then, and I failed. Maybe for the best, because I was trying with Mt. Gox...

I too try to buy some in 2011 but wasn't able to. I wish I had succeeded thought but never mind. If I'd be a billionaire I'd still be doing the same thing today, using Steem to better this world.

Yeah well I am from India and even if I had 10BTC back then it's value would have been 1000000+ right now in INR which is a lot in my country.

Problem is, how would you have bought it? At that point it was already getting difficult to mine it, required special GPU's at least. It was possible to register with and buy on Mt. Gox, but not exactly easy, and in the end loads of people lost all their Bitcoin on that exchange.

Oh I see. I did not know that it was this complex.

I heard a lot of this Mt. Gox from a post I read today in steemit. What to it anyway? If you don't mine.

It was the first Bitcoin exchange and for many years almost all Bitcoin trading happened there.

However it was a shady operation. It was insolvent after a while either due to hacks or an inside job. It went bankrupt and everyone using it lost the Bitcoin they kept there.

Oh, scary. Thanks for the info.

Only if you had held them which back then must have been very difficult. I have much respect for the people that held their bitcoins for 8 years! Such vision!

Maybe steem will rise too! Who knows if 1steem>1BTC one day!

Why not!

I really enjoyed this article:

Quote: "Steem can currently process more than 100k transactions per second as opposed to around 7 for Bitcoin."
