To have or not to have

One thing that keeps me wondering these days is this question; when we have a crush on someone or that person has a crush on us, do we really have to have a relationship with them? If I say relationship, I'm talking about the romantic part. I mean, is that really how it goes?
To say that you have a crush on a person, you have appreciated that person's personality, appearance and there other qualities. Some people would say "I feel inspired because of my crush, I wanted to go to school everyday to see him". Having an inspiration is always a good thing. It keeps us motivated in a way or feel joyful and alive.
We have a crush on someone or we admire someone because there is that something about him that suits our liking. Somehow, we admire that person because there is something about him that isn't in us. They're like completing the puzzle we are creating. We also admire that person because he makes us feel happy even in the simplest way, or just seeing his face or hearing his voice. We admire that person because we can see that there is more to life in just meeting or knowing a person.
Then there goes the question, do we really have to be romantically involved to that person? When our friends know about us having a crush on someone, we can always expect a lot of teasing coming from them. "Go tell him", "Get her attention", "Here he come, show your smile", "Get her number". We know our friends, they're quiet ecstatic every time. They're always happy when we are happy.
So, I asked a friend about it and she said, "It's not really that you have to (have a relationship).For me, I just want my crush to recognize me, that I have a crush on him and that when somebody has a crush on me, I want him to know that it's alright to have that feeling towards me. But if you really want to have a relationship with your crush, that's another thing. Or if you just want to keep it a secret, it's always your choice".
Then i guess that answer's it. It's always our choice that matters. We can always find happiness as long as we open ourselves to even the smallest things.
