This Astonishing Optical Illusion Is Blowing My Tiny Mind
You might think this is sorcery or black magic or there is something wrong with the mirror, but it's not. In this video we have one of the finalists of the "Best Illusion of the Year Contest 2016".
The objects are made by Dr. Kokichi Sugihara, an engineering professor at Meiji University in Japan. With his cylinders which appear to change shape in the mirror he won the second prize in this year's contest.
Reality is broken...
After the contest the guys of a 3D printing Youtube channel named Make Anything recreated the objects and revealed how it works. Watch it below for an in depth explanation of how they recreated the ambiguous cylinder illusion for 3D printing.
Wow that is amazing! It looks like magic. I love illusions because they reveal the hidden ways our brains process information and take shortcuts to create our perception of reality. The creation process is fascinating too.
There are so many ways our brains can trick us and yet some people still insist that reality is objective.
Just curious, you don't see the things shown in the first movie as a trick?
I am so glad you or the second video in because I was like 'whaaaat?
This is mind boggling! Ah, I love these types of videos:)
