Fun and productive day

in #homestead6 years ago

As I was planting the rest of the tomatoes and eggplant my daughters Annalyse and Kylee helped me collect a lot of earth worms and feed them to the quail.

We had some great company over and some great food. I even ate some vegetables. It turns out my body can handle acidic vegetables pretty well but not alkaline vegetables, although all the peppers, onions, a little bit of refried beans, and a little cilantro ended up making me very gassy the next morning. I feel great though and I'm glad I'm not worried that I'd never be able to eat vegetables again after going on a hyper carnivore diet over 4 months ago.

I've also been making milk kefir and adding a little bit of fruit and stevia to it in the morning.

The first shoot of asparagus came up and it was delicious. It's said to be alkaline and so that little bit and my body reacted a little bit negatively and I'm disappointed since it is such a small amount. I really enjoyed raw asparagus fresh from the garden for the first time last year. It's much better than the store bought stuff (that's all vegetables), and it is such a healthy snack food. It's just that time of season for grazing in the garden or in the wild as our vegetables begin to spring up.

This might mean that parsley is out too.

As well as endive

And lettuce

But I do look forward to meat and eggs with some fresh garden salsa made with home grown
