St Lambert's Church

*

Hello my dear Steemians,

When looking through our summer photography I return again and gain to this beautiful Church in Münster. When time comes close to winter when there is Christmas time and Christmas market then this place becomes one fo the popular place for local people and also for tourists because it is a place where the main and tall Christmas tree is built up.

Actually it was the first time when I saw this architecture and since then it is always reminds me the time of family gathering.

From the historical point of view, the top of the church has three metal cages that were also included in the history of this beautiful city during the time of Anabaptist where the cages were used to place the rebellion leaders and to display their bodies in those cages.

The cages now are in museum but they are replaced by re-made cages and represent the history of the city.

The building on those pictures lighter in colour but time to time due to sandstone that it is made of the stone becomes darker due to exhaust fumes that accumulates and that makes the building look black. When I saw it first time it was black and cages were looking more dramatic, I remember that time my hubby told me a story about the tortured people, he also jokes saying that the bones are still there and of course, I believed that and wanted to see the bones but it was too high. Later on he told me that it was only a joke.

When I see the top of the building I can not stop thinking how the people in 13th century were able to build so high and to make such beautiful art without much machinery, especially when we see how many construction built now and that they often not really last long.
