Wood Texture - Ran Art Blog

in WORLD OF XPILARyesterday

My latest drawing is of wooden easels.
It is part of my realistic texture drawing guide.

When drawing wood, make sure the lines for the texture are not parallel to each other.

In addition, pay attention that the lines are not of uniform thickness.

Most important is that the structure is correct and in perspective, and that the brightness values are correct.
If you are new to perspective, visit my perspective drawing guide.

When you want to draw holes and cracks, imagine where the deepest part is.
Meaning, to which direction the hole goes.
Deepest is darkest.

Here is a wooden pole from imagination.

And a wooden swing from observation.

For more on drawing from imagination, visit my imagination drawing guide.
It is an advanced guide, but I explain it in a simple way and with many examples.

And, as usual, make sure the structure is correct. Then, color and texture it.
