I feel you @stef1. Price of steem matters. One of the reasons it was so high in the first place, especially in the short-term, is because there was an abundance of credit. And the Federal Reserve took that away.
But that will return. We will be in an expanding credit environment again probably in a couple of years when inflation comes down. And steemit will be much bigger by then (more users), and then people will make a lot more money, in dollar terms.
Plus, the steem payout today is the same, it's just the dollar equivalent is not. So that's a bad thing in a credit contracting environment, but a good thing in a credit expanding environment… because when credit expands, prices go up...all things being equal. So the steem that we earn today, and accumulate in our accounts, will not be set at that dollar equivalent amount in 2 to 3 years, our accounts will grow relative to the amount of credit and money in the system, and that will always increase over time.
So I am very optimistic for the future...it just sucks now :)
P.S.
As for the development side of things that I read in one of your comments, I feel you on that too...hive is doing some good things…and steemit is…well…needs to do better. I try to be an optimistic person. And I like both platforms. I hope steemit improves in that area.
I really hope that this will happen and I want to believe with all my heart. We have not only spent time here, but we lived here, we have our friends, who I never met before but I know many of you already better than my own neighbors. I am really missing the time of old Steem and how it was before, feels like it will never be so good. Even on Hive they will never be able to recreate what it was before. It is good, better supported by Curation and developers but its different. It is almost like when the children growing up and everything then look different.
Maybe it is simply we are grown up and need something need, maybe we need to leave this nest for better place. Of course, currently there will be no changes to us and our account and we will likely keep going but nobody knows what happens in near future.
I appreciate you @fijimermaid for sharing your thoughts and it was always a pleasure to read your thoughts.
