Today marks a bit of a milestone for me, as the Curator Cat blog on Steemit turned 7 years old!

If I have to say so myself, it's actually pretty impressive considering the fact that we started this little project as half-hearted joke, much in the same way as "Caturday on Saturday" became a thing as a bit of a joke, on the 4chan image boards back in 2005.

At the time we started, Steemit seemed very focused on "everything crypto," and "everything blockchain," and "everything in anarcho-capitalist investing and financial" and nobody was really posting alternative content like... cats!

So with Shadow — aka "Curator Cat" — always getting his picture taken and usually getting those images posted to Facebook we decided to start a little cat blog on Steemit, not knowing whether it would even become anything or last for any significant period of time.

This was basically a collaborative effort between @denmarkguy and @whitelightxpress and their photographer daughter — who never ended up making a Steemit account for herself — to give cats their own home on the blockchain.

Thankfully, we were pretty well received, and built much of the earliest parts of this account through engagement in a couple of communties, and participating in various contests.

Ironically enough, it wasn't long before we learned that we were actually not the first to do this on Steemit. There was another account — with a good bit of "whale" backing — called @thecatfiles that created only cat related content.

Funny enough, that blog featured two white cats, while our Shadow is a black cat.

Even cats like to eat their greens, sometimes!

So now it has been seven years, and we're still here.

We started with a 50 USD investment in Steem, and have built from there... the account has never powered down in its history!

We sometimes wish there were a little more activity in the "pets" area of Steemit, because we know lots of people keep pets. Maybe folks are just afraid that writing about their pets would not be "popular," and not earn a reward?

Consider this: 700 million people consume cat content online every month! That's more than a few...

Anyway, that's our story... and we hope to continue it here on Steemit, for years to come!
