Night until spring - Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.70)
Night until spring.
I don't know if you know that feeling when you want to draw something but you have no idea what exactly to draw especially if you're always looking for that idea in the back of your mind waiting for it from God.
It can be hard to figure it out and it's sad to watch pencils get bored in a pencil case lol.
Something like that happened before last spring.
Yeah last night I looked out the window and saw a strange thing lol it was snowing heavily!
It sounds strange especially in the middle of February but since a few days ago people were walking around the city in shorts and T-shirts due to the very warm weather such a sudden change in weather may seem a little strange and inspiring to draw something.
The weather plays tricks not only on people but also on the plant world, and the buds on the trees have already begun to bloom and the youngest leaves have already appeared on the most nimble of them and then again frosts and snowfalls.
Looking at all this I got the idea to draw the last night of winter or the first night of spring when the calendar page marks the end of the cold and the beginning of warmth.
And once warmth comes the ice that bound the rivers will crack and the ice floes will begin their journey downstream.
This is exactly what I tried to depict in my drawing the night between winter and spring.
Since I did not yet imagine the full picture the idea was born as I worked I began to draw a leaf of a tree that appeared on the branches in spite of winter.
During the work I returned to this tree leaf several times.
Next I drew a tree branch to which this leaf is attached and drew unblown tree buds.
The tree branch should be in the foreground as a symbol of spring and a snowy landscape should appear in the background.
Ice floes appeared on the river.
And this is the most terrible and responsible moment in working on the drawing when I had to plunge the sky into black night.
I think that a full moon would not be superfluous in the night sky.
Next I decided to show clouds and migratory birds in the sky because they should arrive in the spring!
Having worked on the details of the picture some more I came to the conclusion that at this stage you can return the pencils to the pencil case and consider this picture complete.
Enjoy watching and reading everyone!

I have seen many of your drawings, there is something about them that captivates me. I don't know if it is the intricacy, the confusion that calls for looking for details. And in this one in particular, how do you achieve that texture in the stones?

If I were a professional artist, I might be able to answer your wonderful question about the drawing technique, but since I am still very far from artistic professionalism, I can say that I draw as I feel it and not always successfully, because I wanted to depict ice floes, and you, my friend, saw stones. As for the intricacy of the drawings, I think that each drawing should have at least a little entertainment like a quest :) Thank you very much and have a blessed day @joslud!
