I agree everyone can write stories just like we all can read them. With a bit of fantasy you can easily change them into something new. Is new always needed? No. For example the most famous fairytales have hundreds of different versions and they are still interesting.
The same we see with fiction, modern tales. Each one of them has parts of stories we already know and it's not plagiarism but allowed to write and even publish.
