Today I wanted to write for hte contest that is running by @ruthjoehere is hte contest:

The weather is still quite cold and many people around have cold, some coughing, some sneezing and that is not only patients in our hospital but also many of our colleagues. It was about a week ago when I was scoping and I had a patient who had a cough. Somehow my first feeling was that she might spread the infection to me while coughing. I tried to stay away and not co come very close, unfortunately we did not have masks in our room and I did not really think that there are some chances to get and infection. During endoscopy the patient patient coughed in my direction and 48 hours I started to have very funny tickly feeling in my nose. Next 24 hours in the morning I woke up with very hoarse voice and it was obvious that I have some viral infection.
It is always a dilemma for us, doctors what to do? In my situation I still felt well and d not have cough, only my voice was away. Have you had such condition?
This condition is called laryngitis or inflammation of vocal cords. Usually it is viral infection of upper respiratory tract and associated with swelling of vocal cord that is why they are a bit stiffer and not very elastic as normally. That is why the tones are completely different and usually much deeper than usual voice.
I decided to continue my work but I was wearing my mask, it took almost a week till my voice was returning. For me it was important to prevent further spread to patients and actually then I thought about the time of COVID when we were wearing masks all the time. Those two years the number of upper respiratory infections were very low. In my opinion, in winter time when it is high number of people who suffer from such infection there should be a rule for employees and patients to wear masks, at the moment it is not the case but who knows we might have it in future.
I am better today and I am having my weekend off, definitely some fresh air will be great for lungs that is why we will have our long morning walking.

Sincerely speaking, that face mask can be really inconveniencing. A lot of people will find it hard following such rules of mask wearing, even if they make it compulsory. It will take a serious ailment like Covid but we don’t pray for such to repeat itself again.
Yes, it is true face masks are really inconvinient but often it is the good preventive measure :)

That is right during winter time there are many cases of sick people and often it is spread from one member of family to antother. Thank you for verification.
