Team Truecolours 06: Curation Report For Week #1 [August 2025]

in Steem POD Team3 days ago (edited)
Assalam O Alaikum

Dear reader,

Here is the first report of the summer edition of True Colours. The first week flew by, and we noticed that no curator team was present anywhere we went.

The number of upvotes given to users with club status has increased significantly.

Our upvotes went to men and women posting on their own blogs or in a community. Nearly all of these posts were creative and artistic, yet they received no appreciation from any other SC (Steemit Curator) team, nor did the accounts of the individuals in question.

Several times during this week, the question was asked "How come I (no longer) exist on Steemit?"

It is disappointing to see that many Steemians/countries are not rewarded on Steemit, and most rewards go to the same people repeatedly. It is made clear daily that the ask for "good content" and "creativity" are just hollow words. Combined with the lack of engagement in comments, Steemit falls short as a social media platform that has something special to offer.

Team True Colours 6 upvoted 97 comments and chose to give higher-value upvotes. Although the average comment is shorter, we’ve found that there are still users willing to support others by reading, commenting and engaging. The best commenters and engagers often come from those overlooked by all SCs.

Twice, we encountered an account that we suspect uses AI-generated content. It would be good if the SC account for newcomers would check this and avoid giving large upvotes to dubious individuals or those conspicuously absent from genuine engagement to avoid stimulating farming.

Commentator Name@gondalbiya
Nominated by@solperez
TypeComment

Reason:

@gondalbiya, referring to @ shimulakter's post, in which she presents a mehndi design, believes that it is a delightful art, requiring concentration and rigor from the designer. Mehndi is a cultural symbol, especially used during festivals and weddings. In fact, women make it a point to learn how to do it from a very young age:

The intricate patterns and details are beautifully captured. It's lovely how you shared the creation process, from drawing flowers to adding leaves. Mehndi designs hold a special place in many cultures, especially during festivals and weddings. Your nostalgia for applying henna as a child is endearing, and it's fantastic that you keep this tradition alive through your art.

You people have done a great job, I have seen accountability, transparency and seriousness with commitments.
My regards,
@treasure24

Thank you very much for finding my post or comment interesting, but if there was a problem with the translation, I should clarify that my grandfather collected 50 kg from one hive per season, or per year, and not per day.

If he collected 50 kg per day, I would already be a millionaire... well, cooler than Musk, that's for sure :)

We curated posts through the tags of our theme. The tags: art - drawing - crafts - ccc are the top of the list plus steemexclusive.

This is what I loved most. Instead of "Diarygame", your team choose real creativity. I wish all SC nominated curator will focus on that too.

I saw last month, Team Europe also told it louder. I hope Steemit Team will notice that.

Thank you for mentioning me as Talented. Though I feel I don’t have much talent. Thank you again.

Well, True Colours says it since I started with it a year ago. A lot has changed during that year.

If you read what the SC teams stand for or better vote for, you will notice they all go for something or certain people.
Art, creativity isn't really in it and not rewarded or rewarding. This is what people literally told me as I started the community Art and Artists. If you are on Steemit for the money, you do as told and go where everyone goes, where you make a chance to be rewarded.

It's interesting if you consider how everyone benefits from the creativity (discoveries, developments included) from others, that this isn't rewarded and even looked down at.

If it comes to thediarygame. It once started to help people write, but after all those years, many of those writers didn't improve. It's sad, but it is as it is. The SC team for the diary game hasn't existed for months still people don't move on and many are afraid to try something new, even if it's not rewarding (not that these posts aren't rewarded).

If you ask me those who write a diary can also write a text, change the title and try to be noticed, make a difference. There's plenty to share and there are so many skilled people who can make this platform so much richer.

Thanks for commenting

many are afraid to try something new,

It's true. I want to add that they made it system. When I came here, I was about to write an SEO-friendly article by following some steps I learned before joining here. Like, an impressive intro, makes the article with a subheading, and the subheading was also a keyword. But, I saw everyone start their article like,

Hi, I am Akib. I am from Bangladesh.....

I was like, then why will I spend time on making an intro? Just go like that!

 2 days ago (edited)

That start you mentioned showed up at a certain moment. I assume some community instructed people to do it. I tried a billion times to explain to people that mentioning this is annoying and Steemit already shows their names and the first lines typed show.

It's the same for: source... Made with Canva... have a look at the list with posts .. the pictures and the first sentences shown.

I am afraid it will not change. Old habits are hard to kill especially if the largest group has no clue what creativity looks like. They are drilled to all use the same phrases, the same template and told that only if they work that way they will be rewarded.

The question is: how many out of them will pay to read a post and if so which one are they willing to pay for since that is what we all should ask ourselves. Why is what we write worth that upvote.

Why is what we write worth that upvote.

This is the point. We should ask ourself, is my article worth it?

I was surprised, I was nominated and curated.
