Participation in the SLC is Declining: Data, Questions, and Suggestions [EN – ID] Partisipasi Dalam SLC Menurun: Data, Pertanyaan, dan Saran

1. CONCERNS
The final week of Season 23 of the Steemit Learning Challenge (SLC) has been launched on 24 March 2025 via this article. Participation in the Week will end on 30 March 2025 UTC. Teachers and mentors will then complete their tasks, bringing Season 23 of the SLC to an end.
Applications for Season 24 were opened via a @steemitblog post on 25 March. Any party (either solo or a team of up to 5 people) can submit an application until 4 April. Read it here.
Interestingly, in the post, steemitblog expressed ‘dismay’ at the ‘limited success’ of the ‘combate against the ever growing use of AI’ implemented through the experimental initiative called Learning Clubs introduced in Season 23. The ‘limited success’ might be attributed to the lack of participants involved in the three available Clubs as was seen in 8 available Classes.
2. WHAT THE DATA SAYS
2.1. Season 23 Weekly Data
Let's look at the facts of Season 23 through graphs. We start with the chart of the weekly number of participating accounts.

In the chart above, it can be seen that in the little time left in Week 6, the participation rate in classes and clubs was very low, 23 and 13 accounts respectively for a total of 35 accounts. Of course, these are not the final numbers. As of this writing, the highest account participation in the SLC occurred in Week 1, with 105 accounts participating in clubs and classes.
Next is a graph of the number of posts that competed each week.

This graph shows the same dynamics as the previous one: high numbers in week one and then a drop in week two with a slight increase in weeks three and four and then a drop again in week five.
The next graph, the number of countries involved in each possible week, shows a rather stable dynamic with a sharp drop in the last two weeks.

2.2. Comparison of the Last 3 Seasons
Let's take a look at the comparison chart of the last 3 seasons.
![]() | ![]() |
---|---|
![]() | ![]() |
Since the previous two seasons, there has been a sharp decline in the number of posts participating in the SLC. Compared to Season 21, there was a drop of 1195 competing posts. Is it true that the war on AI caused this? This is an interesting question. Whereas the Learning Club is supposed to open up more opportunities to Steemians. Or does this have something to do with the fall in STEEM and SBD value? In the two seasons before this, we saw the high value of STEEM and therefore we also saw SBD being minted again because of it.
3. A SOLUTION?
Faced with this fact, the Steemit Team through the steemitblog article announced that they are looking for new ways to increase participation in the Learning Challenge again. That's something interesting, when they leave it to the public to come up with ideas to help in this regard, with various considerations in mind, specifically what ways are offered in preventing the use of AI and other plagiarism models.
4. MY CURIOSITY and some suggestions
If the Steemit Team increases the number of endorsements, by voting for all posts that pass plagiarism and AI, in addition to the posts that ‘win’, can the number of participation be boosted? Currently, we can see that there is no guarantee of votes for Challenge articles that are not included in the selected articles of teachers or mentors, even though working on these articles sometimes requires a lot of investment, both time and finances, energy, and thoughts.
Another thing that might be considered is increasing the number of ‘winning’ posts from 4 this season, to 5 or even 7 next season, for each Class and Club.

1. KEGUNDAHAN
2. APA YANG DATA KATAKAN
2.1. Data Mingguan Musim 23
Mari lihat fakta Musim 23 melalui grafik.

2.2. Perbandingan 3 Musim Terakhir
Mari lihat grafik perbandingan 3 musim terakhir.
![]() | ![]() |
---|---|
![]() | ![]() |

Semoga bermanfaat. Silahkan meninggalkan komentar.

SLC problems are:
Schools have vacation why SLC not?
Positive
is that people clearly don't care about an SC upvote and the same counts for the prizes we set with MWW. This means the motivation is there and we don't attract the farmers and AI users but those who really like to write which is to me most important.
Since no one reads I made a post out of this comment!
I wonder why I bother. Is it about producing posts or a discussion asking what the sticking points are? Does @steemitblog care since not once have I read a response when comments are made on posts. This is already a sign of how distant the team is from the user.

I have always been a consistent participant in the learning challenge and will always be, the truth be told, it requires so much time to make a challenge post with originality and though votes are not guaranteed, since apart from this post, other post should be supported across the steemit blockchain, but here is the thing for us student it may not be easy, maybe it could be for working class, money is required to participate in most of this challenges, the food challenge post require so much and come to think of burning so much per say to create a post and then not rewarded, the next week may not have you participating in that challenge, i feel everything is beginning again people are getting to know more about this challenges and participant will increase with time, my goals is to acquire more skills outside the blockchain so that i can contribute as well, hope steemit can help me achieve that.
Another thing is how about we begin from the scratch, how you learn a particular can be share from the basis, so people can follow up and understand, i always love programming and started coding about 2 year back before joining steemit, but something made me stop, now all tools to make me proceed is available.
I feel for challenge to be made better, nothing is simple, so why don't we take a practical approach, one that won't require time a little of funds and we will see changes to the number of participant, some challenges need 12 weeks to complete, why not split it into two so that people who are busy with other thing could atleast complete them, learning is a gradual process and one could learn multiple things at a time, if the lesson are bit by bit, the number of words could be more than 300 to show that the participant ready know what they are doing and they understand every bit.
Crypto is broad @kouba01, i can tell how many times i have made crypto post but haven't submitted it because its bulky, i can even make technical analysis with head and shoulder and other chart pattern, i have learnt a lot about the rsi indicator but i discovered something, it require much of reading and researches to make a crypto post and it doesn't take a day to do that, spitting the exercise into two, 4 question to answer and the rest for the next week, with this the participant will not only rush to complete the task but will do them with understanding.
Steemit engagement challenge was different because it all about think out of the box in your presentation, i could write 1000 words because it dealt mostly with issue surrounding us and as far as you are leaving there is always something to write. Thank you.
I think I understand your concerns, and the views you put forward as reasons for the declining interest in Learning Challenge. There are at least two reasons: uncertain support and tasks that are both labour intensive (mind) and financially demanding.
I have seen that at least in season 10, when the challenge was run by 7 communities, the total participation reached 800 posts per week, in the first week even exceeding 1000 participating posts.
Thanks for commenting.
No support? I don't read that.
I read: the lack of basis taught, lack of using vocubular the student uses and endless tasks which need time to investigate and try out. All points mentioned months ago.
The SECs were about stimulating commenting.
One of those 1000s who joined kept posting in these communities. It was a floid of trash and AI generated comments! You like to compare that with SLC?
Next to that there was a lot of foul play since good entries didn't win but those who received most comments (or used tricks) next to that you could only win a SEC contest once per month in one community and who knows what more tricks were used to shut people out.
I can also state that many entries were hardly read if read at all and it was never said why that textwas the best of all.
I have been there and it was days and nights continues reading, commenting, checking and being scolded while Admins were absent never read but decided who won.
Not a single Steem I earned with it and quess who earned the Steem for these contests and guess where it is today! Also this fact I mentioned but the Admins were right, the mods called childish and should not abandon the on purpose sinking ship. They were lifted in every way by doing the minimum, teaching, curator and next powerdown.
This is what the average Steemian sees if it comes to support, who is supported. SLC is thankfully no SEC where only a few communities receive support and are benefitted in every way no matter if they discriminate.
SLC should be about the joy to learn something and better be with like-minded!
Do we really have to pay everyone to make them join? This besides of the fact we had 1 month Ranadan, Carnival and it's winter and people struggle? Don't you believe this has no affect?
It would be good not to compare apples with lemons and ask if this platform needs more generated trashy posts to promote itself. Posts that still cannot found by AI or any search engine which makes this platform dead for rokers and gives Steem a low value.
♥️🍀
I am here with you. Learn with Steem is not about learning but meant for those who have the knowledge. There's no basis, no learning process, nothing new, no room for creativity and no fun.

Chronicles of a death foretold
We continue to swim in circles, sometimes irregular and ordinary. The main problem is that motivation is needed. Either artists are motivated by their affinities or they are motivated by votes. The key is to comment, which amounts to interacting, reading and caring about life and people, who have the same interests. Why would anyone bother to read my work, if I don't read or interact with others? The personal development of every artist. It is not in solitude. No one has a compass to know that all the art they create is perfect or at least digestible. We are not asocial beings. To a large extent we need others. Criticism should be a norm. There should be spaces on these platforms only for literary criticism, or any manifestation of art, with foundations. With a team with voting power. We are not talking about destructive criticism. Something that should be kept in mind, to speak loudly about a work, is not bad. I prefer criticism, than to go unnoticed. In all times there have been newspapers or magazines of specialized criticism. That takes effort, of course, like everything that really matters. But we are talking about revitalizing a platform that concerns everyone. This is a space where artists can have a cup of coffee and talk about what they have written or created.
The bubble must be broken. Everything cannot remain in words. The best way I can see and do is to write and comment on what I think is good.
Only the one who writes or defends art knows how important words of encouragement are.
@adeljose, @wakeupkitty, @aneukpineung78
If this were the case, nothing in this world would be useful. It's best to show options: for every problem, three solutions. That means that for every criticism, there should be three alternatives to address.
The main reason for the drop in participation is the push against AI-generated content. This may be linked to the massive participation network that has emerged recently. On the other hand, there has been a lot of discontent in the reviews; this is no secret.

No tenemos esos datos.
Bendiciones.
