"TURNING LEMONS INTO LEMONADE!"😊.........NORTHWEST ADVENTURES! 😀

“ Turning Lemons into Lemonade!” 😊
I think unless you are a Duck, or PEPE, this last week would go down as a “Lemon” Lol!🤣
Yesterday alone we received over an inch of rain, and this has been ongoing……..for days!😅
Many people in the Northwest are completely in denial in regards to the current state of the weather Lol!😇
I believe they are expecting Summer to start tomorrow!🤣😎
“Liz, look……. those people over there, they have shorts on, one is wearing sandals…………..😳
and I have multiple layers on!”🥶
Currently the river level is 76.97 feet…. Flood stage is 83 feet!
Take a look at the fourth photo I snapped on our way to the Coffee shop…….
On both sides, they have built up levy’s/ dykes, to hold back the river from flooding the towns in the valley.
Three years ago, one section of this levy broke…………..
The natural landscape of Northern Western Washington is flat, and much higher in elevation than Canada to the North………
When this dyke broke, all the water from the Nooksack river, rushed North to Canada!😳
Interesting….. in 1924 a large Canadian lake, just across the U.S./Canadian border was completely drained to create farmland for the Fraser Valley.
Now it is called the Sumas Prairie.
The flood waters always naturally want to refill this dry lake…………
Old timers tell a similar story about the natural path of the Nooksack River, at the turn to the 20th century, on the Washington side of the border.
To solve the river flooding, they simply “Moved” the river from the center of town, to the outskirts of town!😇
Once again….. when the river floods, its path comes back to the original river bed!😮
“ Maybe Liz, there is also something about wearing shorts, and sandals”……..🤔😎
“Maybe we should start wearing sunblock as well…….. Summer might come right back Lol!”😇
“Nah………….I’m adding an additional layer I’m cold Lol!”☺️
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊
