From hard work to abundant harvest in the village rice fields
farmers waiting for the rice cutting process
Harvest season is always a highly anticipated moment for farmers, including those in my village. A few days ago, I witnessed the rice harvesting process firsthand with a rice-cutting vehicle, now a modern practice in the rice fields. The roaring sound of the engine was clearly audible, cutting the rice faster and more efficiently than a sickle.
Behind this, teamwork is crucial. After the rice harvesting trucks finish harvesting, the workers tasked with transporting the rice from the fields to the mainland immediately get to work. They swiftly lift the sacks of unhusked rice to the storage area. While seemingly simple, this task requires significant effort, as a single sack of rice can be quite heavy, especially if it has to be traversed through muddy rice paddies or far from the main road.
For each sack of rice transported, the transporters are charged Rp 6,000. This fee is calculated based on distance; the further the rice field is from the main road, the more arduous the work becomes. However, even though the yield is relatively small, for the transporters, this is a halal and blessed livelihood. Converted to the current price of steam, it's around 2.75 steam.
This simple calculation illustrates that each sack of rice transported is valuable not only in rupiah but also in digital assets like Steem.
For me, the most interesting thing about this moment isn't just the cost or the harvest, but rather the strong sense of togetherness. Everyone works according to their role: some operate the machines, some tie the sacks, some transport them, and still others organize the stacking of the harvest. Everything is done with a spirit of mutual cooperation.

The rice harvest isn't just about reaping the rewards of months of hard work; it's also a time for camaraderie and community in the village. From the vast rice paddies to the rice harvesting points, all the effort and sweat pay off with abundant yields. For me, this moment is one of the most rewarding experiences, demonstrating the close connection between humans and the land they cultivate.
