RE: Art Explained by a Writer: L'indifférent (1717) - EN/ES/NL

"This is me, and I couldn't care less if that sounds cliché, what you think of me."

I like this part: I don't care what people think of me, if I feel good the way I am and the way I look the rest doesn't matter!

Sort:

It reminds me of what a late friend said. We talked about people and mentioned that she didn't feel love nor hate. She simply didn't care about them enough to bother about what they said. I believe that's how it works if you have no bond with the one who speaks and feel self confident.

In life we go through many periods of maturation or experiences or whatever you want to call them. When we are young we expect to find approval among our friends, because we are forming. Then comes another period in which you yourself are filing your rough edges, you bring out what you are. In the end, you no longer care what others think of you, how you are, how you walk, how you dress or talk. You have simply learned what really matters, which is that we accept ourselves as we have been formed, with our imperfections, our values and everything we like about ourselves. Without looking back or expecting anyone's approval.
There comes a time when I am with who I want to be, and I leave where they do not want me to be. I try to make myself happy as much as I can.
Maybe when they remember me when I die they will say “I was the best person in the world.”
