Six Foods Mentioned in the Al-Quran, Believed to be Healthy
The Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah are a guide for all Muslims in all areas of life wherever they are. This also applies to choosing healthy foods. In addition to dates which are commonly mentioned in the Qur'an, there are several other foods that are also widely mentioned, the list of foods is believed to be healthy. As Muslims, we certainly understand that the Qur'an has many names. Asy-Syifa is another name for the Qur'an which means healer. In several verses in the holy book of Muslims, it provides knowledge about natural medicines that can be consumed.
In general, the Qur'an mentions fruits and foods consumed by the inhabitants of heaven. Here I summarize from various sources six foods that are commonly mentioned in the Qur'an.
Honey
Honey in the Qur'an as a source of natural energy, maintains digestive health, to increasing body immunity, antibacterial and antifungal. Honey contains fiber, protein, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, and vitamin C.
Dates
Dates are the most frequently mentioned food in the Quran, even up to 20 times in 16 different suras. Dates contain many nutrients, ranging from vitamins, minerals, fiber, to antioxidants. In addition to helping the digestive process, dates can also maintain heart health and prevent the growth of cancer cells.
Banana
With its vitamin B6 and potassium content, bananas are a good intake for breakfast or daily snacks. Potassium is essential for fluid balance and nerve function. Potassium can also keep muscles and bones working properly. Meanwhile, vitamin B6 is needed for amino acid synthesis to improve protein function in the body.
Olive
So far we believe that olive oil is very good for health because it is a good source of fat. However, olives are also something that cannot be missed and are mentioned in the Qur'an. Olives have essential fatty acids that are beneficial for brain and heart function. The polyphenol content in olives which is an antioxidant compound can ward off various types of diseases.
Pomegranate
The vitamin C content in pomegranates is very important for immune function. Vitamin C also plays a role in the formation of collagen to maintain muscles, bones, and skin. In order to get maximum benefits, it is better to consume pomegranates in their whole form.
Grapes
Grapes are very popular because they contain high antioxidants. Grapes also contain flavonoids which have been shown to be beneficial in preventing oxidative damage which is one of the causes of chronic diseases.
