Think yourself thin using the law of attraction
My weight loss journey started back in 2014. I wanted to create this perfect “Instagram body” in a short amount of time. So I did a lot of research and started this 6 days a week bikini body program. I didn’t realise it back then but I became OBSESSED with calorie counting. On a typical day I would eat around 1200 calories. Not much for someone who would work out 6 days a week, had 2 jobs and was pretty active.
One year later during my exams I gained some weight due to stress. I said to myself that it’s fine; a lot of people gain weight during stressful times in their lives. After I graduated I was determined to pick up my old routine again. And I did…
At least, until I went backpacking. For 5 months I didn’t care about what I put into my body so when I came back home I had gained all the weight back. At this point I didn’t know what to do anymore. My body image was so F*CKED UP! But one thing I was sure of; I was tired of putting my body into this starvation mode.
Now to cut a long story short. Oktober 2016 I went vegan and this was the best decision I ever made in my life. My attitude towards food changed drastically. I will make another post on this topic in the future.
A lot of people in the vegan community were talking about body positivity and one day I stumbled across this book “The Law Of Attraction”. Aka the holy grail for EVERYTHING in life!!!
You’re feeling bad about yourself
We’re constantly comparing ourselves with all these people on social media who have a so called perfect life. This is resulting in negative thoughts about ourself. You think that the only way to succeed in life is to be like them. And this is where you start to put negative vibrations into the universe that will bring you into a negative spiral.
Focussing on the negative will bring more of it
If you are focussing on the things you do not want in your life, in my case being “fat”, then you are sending these so called negative vibrations into the universe and thereby you are attracting negative things. When you are feeling unhappy you will continue to attract situations that will make you feel unhappy. You’re focussing on the negative things occurring in your life.
See your brain as a broadcasting tower. Whenever you are thinking of something, you are broadcasting your thoughts into the universe. Since the universe is always listening, it matches you up with the frequency that you’re broadcasting. So on a bad day you are broadcasting at the wrong frequency.
I was broadcasting at a so called low/negative frequency since I was feeling insecure and fat all the time. I wanted to be thin so I was thinking about it in a way of lack; I didn’t have a thin body. So I was never able to lose weight because I was attracting more of it. Instead you have to feel like you already have it, before you actually have it. For example; you want money, you have to think like you already have an abundance of money.
Visualise your goal into reality
So the book* is talking about a workshop. Everyday imagine yourself already being at your goal. What would your life look like if it had everything that you wanted in it? Imagine your health, what you look like, your relationships, your state of wealth, etc. and read your vision every morning like everything is already there. It’s easy! You just have to shift your focus and everything else will fall into place. Focus on the way you feel and give your energy to the right thoughts.
*The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks
What if I’m having a negative thought?
Let it be for a moment. Listen to how you feel. You feel negative emotions that you don’t want. Acknowledge it and then shut it off. Focus on what you do want instead.
So how exactly do I lose weight?
Just act like you’re already at your goal weight. Your thoughts will always manifest so excess weight is a sign that you don’t love your body. When you look into the mirror and you feel sad about your appearance, you are sending this vibration into the universe which results in attracting it. Instead you have to surround yourself with love and positivity. Be grateful that you already lost an x amount of weight. Be grateful that you have a body so you / your inner being can experience this world. Be grateful that you are healthy and promise yourself that you’re going to take care of your body so you can live and experience more of this world.
Do all these things and the weight will come off naturally. I lost 5 kilo’s over a period a time (few months). I didn’t stress about it, I just visualised myself already at my goal weight. I didn’t eat extremely healthy and did some yoga from time to time, no extreme exercising. Just be kind to your body, love it and take care of it but don’t stress :-) Just live your life!

Note: most information is from the book The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks.
The word "fat" indicates a feeling I had at the time. I never had a medical condition and don't want to insult someone by any means.
Love this as a brain exercise. I started eating vegan in January of '17 and I've lost bits here and there, but I've been completely been at a stale mate on the scale since about march lol.
SO hard not to get frustrated, I've gotten to the point where I don't even weigh in anymore. I feel good and I know I'm doing what's right for my body. I've got a underactive thyroid so that's always an underlying factor/frustration but I know I've got to trust the process.
<3
This is so true! I don't weight myself either. I follow someone on Youtube and she talked about her friend doing all the right things but she didn't lose any weight. She ate a whole food plant based diet, exercised a couple of times a week, drank enough water, etc. The girl from Youtube told her to just be consistence and after a few months she started to lose all the weight!!! Consistency is key. I think your body needs time to heal especially if you're coming from an animal based diet. I would love to get some updates sometimes how you're doing on your vegan diet 😊 Do you find it hard to stick with?
That's an awesome idea for a post @bynaomi ! I think I'll work on that today in fact! Let me know if you have any specifics you'd like me to answer and I'll totally give you a shoutout for coming up with the idea ;) <3
Thanks so much 😊 hmmm let me think I don't have anything specific really. For me it was REALLY hard to give up on cheese. I still miss it nowadays. I always say it's a drug 😂 Just wondering if it was hard for you as well?
they say there's an enzyme in cheese that affects the same areas of the brain as HEROINE if you can believe that lo-obviously to a much lesser degree but pleasure centers are pleasure enters!
Started padding out some thoughts for that post yesterday so hopefully I'll have it up soon <3
Yeah I read about that as well. SHOCKING! Yesss, looking forward to it :-)
