RE: You can dislike something without being a monster about it

You need a license to hold venomous reptiles even in the states. In my opinion this makes sense as well even though I like snakes and would never tread on one ;).

Let me give you an example for once: nukes. Are you in favor of private persons and companies holding nuclear weapons? After all if you want to defend against a giant enemy like the state you will need something bigger than a 9mm.

Sort:

Licenses for venomous reptiles are also illegitimate. How did the state get the (imaginary) political "authority" to require and issue (or deny) licenses? They didn't get it legitimately, but just made it up out of thin air.

I not in favor of anyone-- especially governments-- having nuclear weapons. I don't trust states with nuclear weapons, either, but states have no imaginary political "authority" to forbid anyone else from making or having them.

To imagine states have any "authority" over anything is to fall for the lie that states are somehow legitimate and "superior" to individuals.

(I've had rattlesnakes and never asked for state permission.)
