SEC-S20W4 | 2nd Time: Rice.

Welcome to another week of preparing 2nd Time Rice, there's no doubt that rice is popularly eaten by many people across the globe, in this course I'm making delicious healthy Rice with veggies as the combo. Looking at the pictures it looks appetizing isn't it? Now check out how I prepared it.

Frankly speaking, this is my first time hearing some of the rice mentioned in this class I'm just familiar with few little did I know that we have so many types of rice.

The ones I'm very familiar are, long grain white rice, Basmati rice, ofada rice, short grain rice, Nigerian rice(also known as Abakiliki rice)

We would like you to prepare a main dish based on rice or with rice as a side dish (quantity for 1 person). It is important to explain the preparation process and the result.
Remember the quantities learned in the course and the elements that a main dish based on rice or with rice as a side dish should have.

Now let me show you how I prepared my rice (long grain white rice)

The ingredients used

  • 2cups of long grain rice
  • Chicken
  • Onions
  • Fresh tomatoes
  • Fresh pepper
  • Pumpkin leaf
  • Cucumber
  • Seasoning cubes
  • Salt
  • Water

Preparation process .

Washing the rice with cold clean water , put in a pot to pre boil, filter and put the rice back to the pot with water ,allow to cook to your desired taste. The rice is ready.
My veggies are prepared with chicken , season the chicken with pepper ,onions and salt add little water allow to cook them add the pumpkin leaf taste and adjust where necessary, that was how I made the vegetable sauce that I used.

Which starter and which dessert would go with the main dish you just prepared? Imagine a 3-course menu that goes with your main dish.

DON'T PREPARE A COMPLETE MENU, JUST IMAGINE IT.

Starter is pap with Akara , this is what I normally like taking as my starter because it has a way of giving me the energy that I needed for the running around of the day. I would prefer pineapple juice as a dessert to complement the starter.

I want to truthfully say that this class has been so helpful despite the financial constraints, I have been learning a lot from week1 until now, imagine giving me idea of making pasta from scratch which i could not even think on my own hence i have been eating already made from stores and restaurants.

The experience is something I can't easily forget, I can boldly and proudly tell someone that I have an idea of making pasta. Rice on it's own is something I have been cooking on daily basis I have the experience before now.

The combination of many ingredients costs more but makes the dish richer in nutrients and of course with a high protein content.

I imagined porridge as an appetizer and pineapple juice as a dessert, yes it sounds ideal for a one-person portion.
