Worst Advice for Writers

The worst advice to give a writer? To stop writing, to give up, to take another job. Stupid tips one should not care about, it’s unnecessary to abandon writing when you can do it alongside whatever else you do. A writer writes, takes notes, and doesn’t care if it’s just a meme, a slogan, a column, a journal entry, a short story, or if it’s scribbled on paper, a napkin, or a wall. Writing is an urge, an art, a need to express, no more, no less. Only those without that urge and creativity give such stupid advice, the same counts for teachers.
The same goes for artists, painters. You paint, express, colour your feelings and ideas. If there are no colours available, it’s drawing, sketching, painting in black and white, or using pigments from plants, fruits, tea. Creatives are those who feel the urge; the dead are those who believe art isn’t needed—to brighten, to make people think, act, love, laugh, or respond. Telling an artist to stop being one is the worst advice. It’s not true that artists can only exist if they do it professionally. A job takes about eight hours a day—that leaves sixteen to create, if not more. To me, it’s something always present.
Not AI-generated text for a quick sale, but observing life, people, watching films, engaging, and taking notes—on paper or in my mind. Everything is worth writing about. The power of words is immense, even the harsh ones no one wants to hear. Someone must say them aloud. Writers will weaving irony, sarcasm, poetry, fables, stories… The world is full of good writers, famous or not, and they all have words worth reading, worth
remembering.

Maybe I am looking at life in reverse (or maybe I'm just OLD!) but I think writers and other creatives have an ever more important role in these times of AI and automation, as we get to be the few who document the depths and widths of the actual human experience of life... as separate from the meaningless AI text you mention.
AI can only aggregate what is available, so it falls to us to deliver at least a tiny piece of authentic "fresh content" to the data stream, so we don't end up just with copies of copies of copies of something that has already been written.
After all, AI can't stand on a beach and describe what a tropical sunset feels like while you have coral sand between your toes...

That's very true, especially about the beach which reminds me of a test where AI learned from AI only and even started to develop it's own langue no human could understand.
AI only learning from AI is a good reason why it won't survive in the future. It lacks human input, creativity and something new, nexr to the lack of emotions.
There's only one problem (AI doesn't learn from present writers all data is old and selected by a small group of people): if people don't read, can no longer read, the written word is lost. A picture book might be the solution, although it will be hard to tell if what is shown is real or fiction.
Thanks for your great/thoughtful comment.
A good weekend.

People around me don't care about reading or writing. Some would even make 'odd' remarks and it also shows in their expression when they know that I write. Not sure they are disgusted, or they are afraid that I'll write about them.

If you grew up, like me, not a part of a creative family it's a fight to do what you like and therefore are good at.
Should we write for those around us, others or us? I write for me. I don't like to write (or say) what others like to read/hear. Both would feel like hypocrisy to me and take the joy away.
Should we be always be understood? Some words, lines need time to sink, others need time to reach the right persons.
Most likely it's the fear you speak out, and even without calling names 'everyone' knows you wrote about them. So be it. They are the ones looking in the mirror you hold, even though it's not in front of their faces.
Never underestimate the power of words or feelings.
There's a lot of art created (texts and paintings) in the medical world and so is among prisoners. There's a very good reason for that (and it 'cures' and steers into positivity better than pills and years of therapy can do without changing people into drugs zombies and taking their identity).
'Odd' remarks proves how uncomfortable they feel (or is it lack of creativity and intelligence mixed with guilt).
A creative Saturday, don't give up on writing.

"You have to write." I totally agree with you. In any format, style, or medium (even on the decorated meringue of a birthday cake).
Your writing reminds me of a newspaper column from the 1980s and 1990s, here in Venezuela. It was called Write, Something Will Remain -- (Escribe que algo queda). By Kotepa Degado.
The phrase highlights the importance of writing down your ideas, thoughts, and emotions, even though at times it seems like writing is losing its place or value.
As long as a person writes for himself, it has value and that's how it should be. Hundreds if notes, scribbles made testify of what the true writer ibserves, feels, finds value in to write about.
It's just a pity Steemit lost that place.
Thanks for the link.
A creative weekend!
