RE: Worst Advice for Writers

in Freewriters14 hours ago

Maybe I am looking at life in reverse (or maybe I'm just OLD!) but I think writers and other creatives have an ever more important role in these times of AI and automation, as we get to be the few who document the depths and widths of the actual human experience of life... as separate from the meaningless AI text you mention.

AI can only aggregate what is available, so it falls to us to deliver at least a tiny piece of authentic "fresh content" to the data stream, so we don't end up just with copies of copies of copies of something that has already been written.

After all, AI can't stand on a beach and describe what a tropical sunset feels like while you have coral sand between your toes...

That's very true, especially about the beach which reminds me of a test where AI learned from AI only and even started to develop it's own langue no human could understand.

AI only learning from AI is a good reason why it won't survive in the future. It lacks human input, creativity and something new, nexr to the lack of emotions.

Too much never turned out to be a success.

There's only one problem (AI doesn't learn from present writers all data is old and selected by a small group of people): if people don't read, can no longer read, the written word is lost. A picture book might be the solution, although it will be hard to tell if what is shown is real or fiction.

Thanks for your great/thoughtful comment.
A good weekend.
