This is my first ever post as a steemian-my wife @jjwriter85 said thats what we are called here! Thank goodness for her help with my first post, I tend to be a little slow with technology which is why it has taken me so long to even make a post. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
Eagle Scout, Oh Eagle Scout
Eagle scout, oh eagle scout with your badge and your bandanna in hand. with your swiss army knife within a moments grasp. Trained and ready for anything. Or are you? What if something were to happen that you were unprepared for? What would that even look like for you? Someone who was allegedly trained to be able to handle any situation. What about emotions? Are you trained to handle those? What if someone needs emotional support in a moments notice, are your tools for that as easily accessible as your knife or the ability to make a fire? What would you do if you needed to comfort someone? What about tears, are you able to access those? What about your arms do you have full use of those? With kindness are you able to gently pat someone on the back or give a hug when needed? Your shoulders, are they up to par? Are they able to carry the weight of ones issues in any given moment they may need to vent? Not for you to hold onto it forever, only for a moment to help lighten their load even for a second of comfort in space with you. What about your eyes, are they able to hold anothers gaze? Are you able to just be with someone? Have the scouts taught you these invaluable lessons in life? It is not all about the doingness, the beingness is just as if not more important than knowing how to make a shelter. Knowing how to hold the space for another human is vital.Knowing how to show compassion for another is what keeps us human. What allows us to lock into our community with another is the ability to just be.
