You're suffocating me.
She whispered to the darkness. It had been days of darkness, waiting for the herd of cantaloupe to pass. They went for miles. One would never believe it if they hadn't seen it for themselves. Of course, she hadn't seen anything in days, but the horror of those miles of luscious cantaloupe echoed through her gehirn, which is German for brain. The worry with cantaloupe, wasn't so much getting battered and crushed by them, though that was no risk to sneer at. It was that you'd get salmonella, and your body's reaction would suffocate you.
Beware the wild cantaloupe. The words echoed in her brain. Why hadn't she heeded the warning of the old cobbler. She'd eaten it will nilly, and now she was paying a steep price.
