NO PIZZA JOINTS, NO PROBLEM, #foodfightfriday

in #fff6 years ago

Living in a rather remote area, the nearest Pizza joint is 14 miles away.
Larry's is a great place if you are in the area
Good specialty slices, under glass, ready to heat up.
Larry's Pizza, not sure of the name, LARRYS
The price of these slices makes them even more mouth watering.
Get this, name the toppings, they have them all.
Multiple topings same price.
Ready, 2 slices with a 120z. fountain drink to go, $4.67 and that includes sales tax @ .o8%

No brainer, in the area, stop in for a couple of slices.

The human body needs a good slice every now and then, or

which occurs a few times a month

The other option is my entry for #fff for this week.
MAKE YOUR OWN DAM PIZZA

Brown up some chop meat, beef or turkey,
had some beef in the frig.
chop up some green bell peppers and sweet vadalia onions.

throw in the onions

throw in the peppers

add diced tomatoes,

IMG_1752.JPG
IMG_1753.JPG

season with black peppercorn, sea salt, and oregano

Oregano comes from our garden

IMG_2078.JPG

Our homemade maple syrup is used as our sweetner to neutralize the acids in the tomatoes.
We have been substituting processed sugar with maple syrup, in all of the recipes that call for sugar.
In the beginning, this took a little trial and error to establish a ratio.

IMG_1171 (1).JPG

add plain low salt tomato sauce

IMG_1758.JPG

stir, add Parmesan cheese, simmer for at least an hour

IMG_1760 (1).JPG

roll out the thin crust pizza dough onto a baking stone
a cookie sheet works in place of a stone

IMG_1764.JPG

Being at the helm of preparing this meal does have its advantages, no

Sorry wrong chore, the dishes have been cleaned up as we go, and guess who's lap that falls into?
with me sweating bullets
laboring over the hot stove
this is a job for the helper. 👍👍👍

IMG_1769.JPG

I told you wearing this
had its advantages!!

spread around the sauce

IMG_1771.JPG

top with a very healthy dose of mozzarella cheese
I always wear nail polish when making pizza, it adds to the festivities of pizza making.
IMG_1775.JPG

with #sivehead getting away with this," Yeap! - I voted for myself," I figured it was worth a try

giphy (1).gif

bake at 425 degrees for 20/25 minutes
This is where the sweating bullets comes in
standing over the stove patiently waiting for the darn thing to cook.
I'm not sure why I used a timer
I was all over that pie
starting at about the 10 minute mark
the oven door was open more than it was closed
major heat blasts to the face

IMG_1777.JPG

FINALLY READY TO CHOW DOWN
Just a final note, leave the oven door closed the entire time and the pizza will be done in about half the time,
it was kind of like watching water boil.

The salad was left over from the previous night's meal, and was a nice side

composition of salad, organic baby spinach, hard boiled organic eggs, roasted cauliflower, homemade creamy Parmesan cheese dressing

Yeah, I wipped up the salad the night before

my face is starting to tingle, here we go again

Hope you enjoyed! thebigsweed

Nice one!!! We have always talked about making our own pizzas but never get around to actually doing it!!! How lame!!!

Alright, I really want some of that Maple Syrup of Yours, since I am eating pancakes right now....

Wait let’s get back to that tasty pizza!!!
I’m going to attempt to cook on my Green Mountain pellet grill soon. I have heard it can be done. Some good Smokey flavor on a let’s say BBQ chicken style pizza....wait no...no... crap I’m givin out my good ideas. Lol

Thanks for joining in the Food Fight Friday Fun

Wait, didn’t you get a fancy FFF belt?

Yes and here it is.

Here he comes again, the major leaguer drafted at #800 and something, swingin for the fences. Great post sir, I love it, congratulations on the attention it will get. I really thought I was going for a tour to Larry’s, I should’ve known...

Thanks for hanging out with us on Fridays @thebigsweed.

With the competition getting tougher every week, the only way to get another

is to swing for the fences. It doesn't seem like a line drive triple, rattling around the corner, is going to get it done any more,
My eye is on the wall.

Haha… major heat blasts to the face. We all know exactly what you’re talking about. That pizza looks fantastic @thebigsweed. We don’t eat cheese and meat but that pizza looks frikken delish. Great entry my friend. I have to say though, a little disappointed you didn’t make your own dough from the yeast you’ve been growing in your side yard. I’d half way expect to see you churning corn to make the flour (or however one makes flour 🤷🏼‍♀️). With that small glare I’d still venture to say this post is a winner. Great job Chef!

P.s. shhhh, I know all about wearing the chefs hat trick :)

Thanks for the compliment on the pizza that was frikkin delicious
When we first met I did not feel it was right to ask this question, now that we are buds I figure I can fire away.
How long has if been since you have eaten a good old medium well done burger on a potato bun with lettuce, tomato, a couple slices of Bread and Butter pickles, no onion thanks, mayo, and some extra ketchup on the side for dipping. Last personal question is, was there one singular event that triggered your present diet.
No churning corn for flower, or yeast growing in the side yard. 😁😁😁
Yeah, about the chef's hat thing, we won't tell a soul. I'm a quick study though.
Not bad going from IMG_0904.JPG
To wiping up meals like this IMG_0385 (1).JPG
Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon. The salmon was marinated for several hours in a Orange Marmalade, Soy Sauce, Rice Viniger, fresh Garlic, dash of Olive Oil, and Red Pepper Flakes.

The Spaghetti Squash was stuffed with homegrown carrots, onions, zucchini, after which it was topped with Parmesian Cheese, Brown Sugar and of course a good helping of everyones favorite 😜😜😜 BUTTER!
The last dish is one of my favorites. This tasty Beet salad will get YOUR salivary glands going.
This salad comes with organic Arugula, homegrown beets, and Goat Cheese. Tossed in a Homemade Raspberry Vinaigrette.

Last thing, the warm welcome that my better half received on her first two posts was really neat.
The good folks @fff made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Your assessment of these fine people is spot on and it is our pleasure to be considered part of the #fff family.
Here is one little example of what I'm talking about.
"If you get overwhelmed by anything around here, shoot me a line. I don’t know everything but I know a little bit and I’ll teach you everything I know."
I think you may know this guy. I believe his handle may be syadnad or something like that.
When I first read the comment he had left for my wife, I knew he had not put 2 and 2 together yet.
He was extending a helping hand for no other reason than a sincere willingness to be helpful.
I knew that there was a little something extra cool about you guys.
Shout out to #puravidaville, #dandays, and all of the #fff crew.

I think we have her hooked.

Hey @thebigsweed! Merry Christmas sir. It’s our pleasure to welcome your wife @farm-mom to the family. I’m glad she’s here, and can’t wait to see her creations.

Umm 🤔, the last time I had a hamburger (it definitely wasn’t cooked medium rare) was probably 2016. I’ve never been a big fan of hamburgers or cheese burgers, I much preferred chicken sandwiches. Dandays and I actually watched a documentary that led to us both doing a ton of research and ultimately to our present diet of not eating animal products. We will eat fish (that you caught) but nothing from a store or restaurant. My last post is all about all of the seafood we eat in fact but I’ve never been a big beef eating person anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️ Now cheese, that was my cryptonite until watching that doc, that is.

That salmon plate looks ridiculously good. Great job chef! We like your style over at the pura-days house too 😉

howdy sir bigsweed! wow that looks great, the sauce looks incredible! This is a very successful entry. Very entertaining and informational too! Plus you made everyone hungry. Love the painted nails. lol.

Thanks, only do the nails for special occasions.

lol! I agree, that should be reserved for something very special! lol.
