Chairman of the Central Committee of the Indonesian Infection Control Association (Perdalin), Dr. Hindra Irawan Satari said the vaccine is safe and effective in preventing the disease because it is produced through long research and using good health practice standards and based on strict ethics.
"Although licensed, the vaccine is monitored both by the government and competent independent bodies," said Hindra, Wednesday (25/4/2018).
Hindra says the formation of vaccines is divided into two stages, namely preclinical and clinical stages. At the preclinical stage, research is conducted in laboratories and in animals, including the identification, creation of vaccine concepts, evaluation of vaccine efficacy, and vaccine-making standards.
While at the clinical stage, the vaccine is tested to humans for years in four phases based on strict ethical principles and volunteer approval, as well as a focus on safety and efficacy.
"If the vaccine is proven safe and efficacious, then licensed in certain countries, in Indonesia, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency is based on the recommendation of the National Commission of Drug Assessment So," said Hindra.
Hindra says the vaccine is a product that produces immunity to the disease and can be given through a syringe, through the skin or mouth, and can also by spraying.
While vaccination is the act of injection of dead or attenuated organisms that will produce immunity against the organism.
